Bringing a diesel bmw do Europe

So I want to purchase a 3 series wagon diesel keep it here for about one year and then send it to Portugal and keep it there. Am I going to have issues having it serviced there and getting parts or are the cats there the same as here?

Not so sure on the newer 328d, but the older 335d/x5d had different cats and DPF. Check on realoem.com.

Also, all diesels here have SCR system; not every one in Europe does. May be hard to find someone there to maintain that system. Parts availability should be ok, although many will be special order.

Your best bet is to contact BMW customer relations. Ask them to put you in touch with a dealer in Spain. Contact that dealer by email and ask if there are any known issues with servicing an American spec car. Good luck.
