330e EV-only mileage

Hi,

This is my first post to this forum. Searching didn't bring up many 330e posts, but I'm sure you're out there

I did a full-to-flat EV-only test today:

Test conditions:
Battery fully charged, showing 28 KM range.
Comfort mode
Ambient temperature 18 centigrade (winter is rough here )
All flat, out of town roads, with very few traffic lights.
Set the ACC to 79 Kph and reduced to 70 where speed was limited.
I was alone in the car
Trunk empty
19 inch runflat tires showing 38 PSI all around
No AC or heating.
DRL were on (compulsory)
The radio was off so I had to sing to myself, but I assume that draws very little current.

Results:
My range was 27.3 KM before the battery got to 15% charge and the gas engine started kicking in.

Possible inaccuracy:
I checked online and found that my car was in need of a software update (I just got it, you'd think the dealer would do it before delivery!) so I'll see if that changes the figures.

Bottom line:
I would like to have more EV mileage, but this car is so nice to drive, I can forgive the limited range.

Very informative post, thanks!

Can you force it into EV mode or does the car figure that out in its own?

Hi DrifterX,

You can choose between four driving modes and three edrive programs:

Driving modes:
Sport+, Sport, Comfort, Eco Pro. The only difference between the 330e and gas-only cars' driving modes is the added power of the electric motor, getting total output to 252 BHP with 43 kgm torque.

edrive programs:
Auto edrive: car does the adjusting between electric to gas, similar to a regular hybrid only longer electric-only periods
Max edrive: electric only unless you exceed 130 km/h or floor the gas pedal
Save: gas only, good for recharging battery on long highway stretches or going downhill.

Hope that answers the question.

I recently got a 2016 330e. I find that it's wonderful for driving to the shops or the gym in my local area when I've had it on charge overnight, but generally I only get around 24km tops on a change (and that's driving very conservatively).

I'm interested to hear your driving habits now that you've had yours for a while.
