auto stop start going to park alone

Hello you guys so as you read the subject

My car at red Lights everynow and then it tends to go to PArk mode on its own

I come to a red might light car turns off as normal then all of a sudden I'm on P (park) mode light turns green I have to move the shifter down again to drive

it is now at the dealer for a "software update" and some sort of reprogramming process

Anyone has this issue or went through this issue and knows the fix to this

Some say is the battery being low
Some say programming then software update and Idk what ???

Anyone in here had this issue ??

F30 335i
And I have rear view camera 360 view from the mirror cameras
I have the parking sensors front and rear and I hav the two front cameras that's on the side of the car in the front bumper

and that's it

Well, that sheds no light, lol.

As it's a 2012, if the istep has never been updated, you should certainly do that. It sounds like that's the Dealers plan of action at this point.

As it's a 2012, if the istep has never been updated, you should certainly do that. It sounds like that's the Dealers plan of action at this point.

They said something about software update and reprogramming or something like that

So I guess I hope that fix that lol

I took it in to the dealer for 3 things smh

rear wheel bearing
Front driver side top strut hat making noise

And this problem auto stop start going to park mode

I’ve read that a poor battery can sometimes cause this, heaven knows why it would even engage stop/start if it detetected that the battery levels were poor unless it happens the split second after it stops?

It should disable start stop if the battery is low.

My battery seems to be fine

the dealer said is not my battery they said a software update should solve the problem

So I'm hoping it does

Sorry for not following up

Never got fixed

Software update didn't fix anything

What happened was I just disabled the auto stop start and just never looked in to it ever again

Ended up selling the car sorry guys

I think it might have to do with the valvetronic motor maybe I'm assuming I could be wrong tho I have no idea what was wrong wit it

Thanks mate. My 2017 340i is doing it, however it only happens after not driving it for 24hrs plus, did you have the same issue? Makes me think it could be a battery problem, going to get the battery checked tomorrow. Also it only shifts to park once or twice, then for the rest of the drive it stays in drive when ASS is activated

If the car detects a low battery it doesn't put the car in park, it starts the engine. Something else is causing the problem.

No I put a brand new battery in mine and still had the same problem after

It didn't make a difference

It happened randomly

I have this problem on rare occasions. End up reving the car then realise the car has gone to park all by itself. I put the car in ista and saw a gear switch code. Unfortunately I have cleared the code and updated all the software using e-sys but the problem is still there. Hopefully I see the code again when I check the errors so can tell you guys what the actual problem is.
