Hi guys. New at posting on forums and such. Tried browsing for answers and I am still a little confused... mostly trying to understand forum vernacular....

I have a 2013 328i x-drive with Navi...
I see i have the CIC headunit, which is disappointing because they just gave me a 2015 loaner and I like the software in the latest version.

From what I gather, I cannot upgrade the software on my CIC unit to be similar to the latest? (I dont care about the touchpad stuff... I just think the newest software is more visually stimulating.)

I am pretty computer savvy... and was able to do a simple update of the BT software to the latest... (I dont notice anything different, as my phone already worked fine with the original software...)

So my question now is, how do I go about updating the Maps to 2015 on my own? You guys seem to be all doing in urselves... So, Mr. Moderator, please PM me...

Also, is there anything else I can update on my car?

Ideally, I'd LOVE to be able to remote start my car from the My BMW Remote like they do in Europe... Or, at the very least, adjust the climate control feature like you can on the 2014 and newer cars (apparently, my year you can only honk, flash, lock, unlock, and locate)

Thank you in advance for being patient with my ignorance.

Again, I tried doing a search for a lot of these questions and came up empty handed... probably because I didn't search correctly...

To those whom have done the map update....

What do you get besides new roads that might have been built?

I live on Long Island in NY where we have had all of our roads built since the 1960s... worth updating?

More Streets and POI's are added, and improvements to the routing algorithm are made.
