Major differences are that the OEM version has the invisible gray parking logo and square areas for the green LEDs, while they are very pronounced on the eBay version. The way the P logo illuminates is also much cleaner on the OEM sticker. The M logo color is metallic silver on the OEM version and more of a white on the eBay version. The M stripes are also much cleaner on the OEM sticker. And lastly, the font for the lettering is different.

Ebay on left, OEM on right:

A friend had one laying around that he never installed so I bought it off him.

I don't think it has its own part number, therefore it seems logical to conclude that it can't be purchased by itself. Googling around I was only able to locate it as part of the M performance carbon fiber selector lever cover kit (61-31-2-250-698), so unfortunately it seems like the only two options for attaining one are either that $250 kit or a $10 eBay version.

Finally got around to replacing my faded carbon fiber mirror caps with new carbon fiber mirror caps. Hope I get more than 3 years out of the new ones.

While I was in there I upgraded the turn indicator lights to blacked out versions. Still can't figure out where to put the extra wire to make them turn blue. Not sure I'll like it but just wanted to see what it looked like.

changed the badges to matte black, and also installed smoked turn signals with the m style gloss black mirror caps… wish i could do the whole housing one instead of just the cover but i have the blind spot triangle function on my mirrors…. had to go the cheaper route. still looks really good though imo

Installed new Zimmermann rotors and Akebono ceramic pads. Scrubbed the brake dust off the wheels, hopefully for good!

Akebonos are better dust wise but the wheels still turn a little brown over time.

No and yes, It's all EOM and the Display plate does not come with the ceramic cover unless someone sells it as a kit.

Don't think that's the right part number. Looks like a repair kit for the entire shift knob that costs several hundred dollars.

I was under the impression that you cannot buy the sticker alone for an affordable price, and that it is only sold as part of the larger m performance shift knob kit.

I agree, it's not quite clear, but somehow the 650iX 4.0 M does have the M on the cover and the part number is for this car. I guess, to be sure one needs to find a tolerant dealer which can order the part with the risk it nees to be sent back.

Regardless of whether it comes in that kit or not, to answer someone else's question above, it appears the OEM plastic sticker cannot be purchased alone. From what I can tell, it only comes as part of a repair kit or an m performance kit, and neither of those options is very cost effective if all you want to use is the sticker itself. Might explain why there's a good market for the eBay knock offs.

Retrofitted some OEM euro spec LCI tail lights

Side note: adding LED reverse bulbs is a must, as is coding in the rear fogs.

50k miles hit 2 days ago so :

- Oil change (went with PP Euro ... Sending my last drain to Blackstone to see how it's looking . Had been using liquimoly for the last 20k)

- Coolant drain and fill

- Mickey mouse flange (preventative)

- Ofhg (no leak that i can tell, preventative)

Even though i have msport, my car doesn't have the auxiliary rad so i had to do the nest drain from the water pump.

Ofhg was only a pain in the ass thanks to the bolt under the IM. Strange thing is that i tried to prime the car based on some of the fears that have been flooding those threads regarding spun bearings. Followed the kies video and pulled fuse 165, but car started up and kept running. Oh well....
