Hammy's new 2019 440i X-Drive
Let me introduce you to my new to me Black Sapphire Metallic 2019 BMW 440i X-Drive. I was sort of looking for a new car but figured I wouldn’t be picking something up until the Spring. I was doing my regular browsing of all the local car websites and saw this beauty and it piqued my interest.
I contacted my BMW salesperson contact and he told me this vehicle had the M Performance I and II packages as well as the Premium Enhanced option package. Other options included adaptive full LED headlights, parking assistant and wireless charging. On top of that they had a winter wheel and tire package included with barely used Pirelli Winter Sottozeros. All in the original MSRP on this vehicle was around $73,000 (I live in Canada) before the winter tire and wheel package. BMW were asking $54,000 (which they did better on) and it came with just under 17,000 KMs. This was definitely worth a look. My first impression of the vehicle when I saw it was that it was absolutely beautiful, it needed a good polishing but other than that looked fantastic. I really love the look of the 2 and 4 series coupes, but the 4 series seem to have better proportions. With the performance packages the 440 makes a very mean snap crackle and pop, the performance exhaust is just amazing. I also had the performance exhaust on my M240 but this one definitely had a more aggressive note, must be due to the tune or mid pipe that also comes with the performance package. The factory tune bumps the HP from 320 to 355 and Torque from 330 to 369. The salesperson let me take the car for the night so I could give it a good run and of course he was hoping I would get emotionally attached to it…. which I did. This thing is just so fun to drive, very similar to the M240 but it felt a bit more put together. The heads up display is nice, blind spot and surround cameras are also useful and you can fit adults in the back seat MUCH easier than the M240. The car pulls like crazy and handles great, not quite as nimble as the M240 but not far off. The best part is that exhaust sound in Sport + mode though, I can’t get enough of it. Then if you want to quiet it down (which I wouldn’t) just leave it in normal or comfort mode and you don’t even know it has the performance exhaust. I am now four days into ownership and am so pleased with this purchase. There is nothing I don’t like about this car. I spent most of yesterday doing some washing, clay bar, polishing (Chemical Guys P-40) and waxing (Chemical Guys Hydro Slick). I had the winter wheels installed at the dealership so unfortunately don’t have any good pictures with the regular wheel set up but the winters don’t look bad at all. Anyway, here she is……… |
