Unhappy HELP Cruise control retrofit problems

Hi,

My friend have a 2013 320i with plain steering wheel (no cruise control, LIM or audio controls at all)
I bought a multifunction steering wheel (32306854753) with cruise controls, installed and coded:

VO 249, 540
but i get this message:

No FP could be generated from FA "". [C002]
Not all elements of FA were found in the FA2FP: SALAPA 540 [72]

So I tried VO 544 instead of 540 and restarted the car.

Now all the buttons working but once I hit the road and press the master cruise switch or the + - button I get a message on the dash " Cruise Control Failure " and once the car restarted it goes off.

So I removed the SALAPA 544 and coded the car again, the SET button acts now as a LIM button and the limiter works.

E-Sys version : 3.27.1
PSdZData version : 4.15.23

I need your help I want the cruise control to wok.

My friend went back to his town and will be back in a few days
What shall I do next ?

You need specific hardware and firmware for cruise control. The buttons in the wheel only activate that hardware via the firmware. Without the hardware and firmware there's nothing for them to activate, nor anything for E-Sys to code.

As I understood from many posts regarding cruise control retrofitting, the car has the necessary hardware it only needs switches and programming.

Don’t you need to flash your car first? Since you don’t have the MF steering wheel.

What do you mean by flashing the car ?
is it a certain firmware for the car or do you mean FA coding ?

I did code the entire car after replacing the steering wheel, and all the buttons is working, even the master cruise control switch when pressed while the car is stopped it shows on the screen "cruise control ready".
The problem is when trying to set a cruise speed over 40 then the failure message appears.

I did find that there is a KOMBI unit for non VO 544 cars and another one with this option.

So maybe replacing the instrument cluster will solve the problem.

no need to flash the car..
And right, the instrument cluster is important.
If you have the extended cluster the cruise control should work.
If you have the simply cluster there are 2 version.

I currently have the simple cluster with option (S544A) = No, as per parts catalog, I need to remove it and confirm or try the test menu to see if there is a cruise control LED or not.

I have to buy a used cluster with option 544 from Europe or the sport line version, But do I need to virginize the eeprom first to test it? I don't care about the tampering dot I will deal with it later.

The cluster should have less kilometers than your car.
After coding the cluster should refresh the km.
If the used cluster has more km than your car the red dot will appear and doesn't go away.

The cluster Part Number is : 62106991689 will it work ?

It has a very little kilometers and it's less than mine

I'm waiting for the cluster to arrive so I can try the cruise control first, I really don't care about the red dot, the car is out of warranty already.

I think Yes.

The red dot in only a problem if you sell the car because that's a hint for a manipulation of the km of the car.

I have flashed the eeprom successfully

I'm planning to install and code the cluster this week.

Can somebody tell me please if I need to inject CAFD or just add $544A cruise control and FA code the whole car.

What should I do in E-Sys

Thanks

I installed the cluster today and added VO 544 for cruise control but I got error on BKOMBI coding.

I tried many times until I clicked on (Detect CAF for SWE) and didn't find the same i-level so I choose a random one with newer date then the BKOMBI coded successfully
After that it's showing red and blue mark on the BKOMBI folder

The cluster works fine except for the red dot ( my cluster mileage is lower than the actual mileage, the VIN is erased from eeprom)

Anyway the cruise control lights is working but when I hit the road and try to set the speed I get error " cruise control can't be activated "

I'm stuck now . I NEED YOUR HELP

Here is the error codes I get

Do I need to flash FEM_GW, do I need to flash all ECUs because this ECU will be newer I-step than the others ?

Can I downgrade the BKOMBI to match the rest of the car's ECUs ?
The car is 2013
The BKOMBI is from 2014 car

I found a guide in how to flash it but i'm afraid If i flash it then it won't communicate with other ECUs
