Racing sims came a long way!
Just wow....don't know how you can get closer to the real thing.
At first I thought it was VR, but no - 3x 65" gaming displays!

Ahhh I remember both revs and microprose.
Have been following Boosted media for a while. And also a guy called Jimmy Broadbend. It has really come a long way. So long that BMW M department has developed a steering wheel to be used both in the new M4 GT3 and in the Simrig. Ive seen a video where the driver has been running a few rounds on track, stopping in the the pit, taking the wheel and use it in a rig setup in the pits.... And have also seen a video with Jimmy allowed to use the simrig at BMW M doing laptimes "only" 1-2 sec slower than one of the junior racers....

I thought I was big into sim racing in the mid 2000's. I had three monitors, three Xbox's and three copies of Forza 3. Then I'd slave the two Xboxes to the primary one and I was "off to the races".
Now, that's cave man technology

With close to 500k views on the above vid alone, I guess the youtube channel and sponsors finance all the gear. What a fun life
Guess the closest we will get to reality soon is Gran Turismo 7 in vr on PS5. The reason I will be buying a PS5 - fingers crossed they got the supply issue sorted this year

You are right, hadn't noticed.
In real life you would not see the paddle shift gear change, so guess they decided to make an exaggerated animation to show the gear change. Apart from that, it looks very realistic!

What's sad is this guys room got flooded and he lost some of his gear. He had over $100k invested in his setup, including lights in the room that lit up based on the sim.
I've got about $3K into my sim rig and that's not including the computer and VR headset. If any of you are looking for a team on iracing that does endurance and league events hit me up. |

That’s pretty impressive for 1992 to be fair! I loved a fair bit of Microprose stuff, from early days of Carrier Command on to Midwinter, Rick Dangerous, Star Trek The Next Generation and the X-COM series.

Mental. In more ways than one... You could hire a race car and go racing for the money that some people spend on their "rig", and have 1000 times more fun. Just a track day in a stripped out track-prepped car renders all this boring IMO.
I used to love Gran Turismo when it first came out, though the enjoyment decreased as the series progressed. I've got Assetto Corsa and i like a blast round the Nurburgring every now and then in an F1 car, but the game cost me about a tenner. Couldn't imagine spending 3k+ on simulating something that you can experience for the same money, nevermind $100k. |

Funny thing is I looked at getting myself a track car and what it would cost to race. I ended up building a PC with VR and a nice rig instead. |

Yeah, his rig is amazing!
I've got a solid sim rig that's got a good few £k in it without the PC and it's brilliant tbh though far from a particularly fancy rig. I also do iRacing which is great fun, really addictive and fiercely competitive!!! Next step is to get triple screens, though perhaps not 65"!

My son at Clay Pigeon Raceway in Dorchester using a 'Kart Sim'. As karts in the real world and knows this particular track so well he was able to jump straight on the sim and bang fast laps in.
+ in reality him testing in the wet here on Saturday
