2013 f30 hu_champ2 cid upgrade
Hi guys, i have been looking all over the internet for a way of upgrading my 6" cid, but unfortunately seems there's not much option apart from NBT route! The question that i have is if the CID from CIC based bmw f10 or other CIC based models will work with my car and if not, why?
My car production date is December 2013 and i have 6" HU Champ2. Thank you! |

If your F30 was produced a year later in December 2013, you should have NBT, not CIC I am not aware of any F30 produced past July 2013 having CIC. Regardless, a NBT CID (I did not say NBT EVO CID ) should work with a CIC System, no issues. Last edited by IK6SPEED; 06-13-2018 at 12:46 PM.. |

You have a NBT so it’s really a mute question. |

I have the same system as you, a quick check in the coding options shows the larger screen is not possible. Therefore I am still with the champ2 NBT system with move maps.

Looks like a low end NBT. Some had more features than others. This also looks like it has water damage. The casing looks badly corroded! I wouldn't touch that with a bargepole!

GBP I assume? Not too bad. However that NBT unit doesn't have DAB so if that's something you're bothered about you'll need to find one that has the dark green and curry coloured aerial connectors on the back.
They're above the black and white aerial connectors on the right side when you're looking directly at the rear of the unit. If you aren't bothered about DAB then no worries. On top of that, factor in that you'll need a new cable to link the screen to the NBT unit if the bundle doesn't come with one - I mistakenly assumed my HU_ENTRYNAV's cable would fit my NBT unit and it didn't, but it was only about £25 for a cable. |

You’re ahead of me so did you manage to move to 8.5” screen with every thing working - or a waste of time and money? Reason I want to upgrade is so my wife can have an easier life (especially with the kids in the back of the car causing havoc) with a larger screen Nav all integrated to iDrive! Any feedback appreciated. |
