N20 Coolant Temp Issues
Have a 2014 320i I'm working through some coolant temp issues with. Anyone have an image or graphic with coolant temp sensor location(s) shown on the N20? Haven't seen much shown in searching. Background, this started with low heat concerns this winter, and the oil temp gage showing somewhat cool. I have already replaced the thermostat (I am currently at 126K !). Hidden menu shows coolant temp somewhat erratic in the 60C to 100C range, then dropping off the face of the earth to -100C after a period of time. Throwing P0128 and U1408 codes.

Take a look at newtis.info site, I think you'll find what you're looking for. Somewhat related here https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1569715

No experience with this issue but basically have the exact same car... and always interested in others issues.
Ive also had my coolant thermostat replaced (55k) I wonder if the electric coolant pump is going bad (11518635089) ? That would be another common failure at your mileage. Im planning on it at some point. |

@wgosma - thanks for the info. I had looked at the newtis.info site, but didn't find too much info on coolant sensors or location.
@sspade - The negative-infinity temp reading strongly tells me this is sensor related, but I also know I may have a couple issues going at once. The coolant pump has not yet been changed, haven't seen any codes or signs it's on its way out yet but that is always looming on the horizon. Last edited by jtprettyman; 02-20-2019 at 11:20 AM.. |

Definitely keep us posted along the way...
I scoured realoem.com but could not find any related sensors. I was a bit surprised as I thought literally every single part was on there. Maybe it is and Im just slow! |

I have exact same car. replaced the thermostat & waterpump. Temperature gage wasn't moving after a while. wondering if there's any update to this so I can see if the temp sensor is the problem.
