The F35 is a sedan version of the F34, making it for all intents and purposes a stretch F30. There are many LWB versions of cars made in or for the Chinese market not available elsewhere, from many manufacturers, including Buick, which in China is a prestige brand.

Yup like this E300L I saw in Beijing.

win win..if they dont make a new 3 gt I have a original current model that I will anyway keep for another 3 or more years .Black kidney grille probably won't look nice in my bsm car. I would consider black exhaust as the twin tiny chrome exhaust in a black bumper looks a bit out of place

I wanted the 6GT to replace my 3GT, but it was too long to fit my my garage. Got a G01 X3M40i No regrets - especially since I have had to haul my father-in-law's stuff 3 times since December (to retirement home, to another retirement home, to storage).

Good choice Slalom. I loved my 328IX GT and wanted another but couldn't find one. I ended buying a 640 IX GT 2018 to replace it. The car is wonderful but much larger in every way. Also the cost is alot more and that puts it in another class with the brilliant BMW X5. The X3 M40I is the big engine in a compact body which makes it fun to drive.

Well it got replaced by the 330i for the LCI, so if you were looking for new cars, that might explain it.

The i4 really looks like a gt

The pictures linked from the future vehicle post look more gt than Gran coupe. So, not sure it's truly read yet. But also looks like production is pushed out till 21.

I guess before it was only announced that they weren't updating the car...NOW it's official

http://www.bmwusanews.com/newsrelease.do?id=3480&mid=

Discontinued models for 2020
BMW 3 Series GT
BMW 6 Series GT
BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe

I guess 6GC --> 8GC

Although I gotta say, I didn't see this until it was posted to jalopnik, and reading there I really don't understood the hate people have for the car. I'll admit there's one angle where the rear might look a bit funny, and of course that's the one they always use, but I think it's overall a great looking car, or I wouldn't have bought one.

Style is subjective, but wow, I didn't think I was in that big of a minority (especially for a crowd that longs for wagons). Maybe it's one of those things that just snowball as something popular to hate on, like nickelback? Or maybe they've just never driven one!

I don't understand the disdain for the 3GT as well but oh well. Also surprised they're cutting the 6GT already. But then again they are ending a lot of models soon to cut costs. BMWs revenue has been on the decline.

It makes sense as BMW appears to be trying to combine two hatchback 4 door 3 series vehicles into one. Somehow, they need to allow for more interior space than in the current Gran Coupe which is very tight and unfriendly. That will impact the roofline, and they may have found a new compromise that looks better to more people and provides a reasonable rear seat. Can only hope...

Somewhat off-topic, but when I got back to that link just now, the 6 GT is no longer in that list of discontinued models...

I started this post 4 years ago, and can report that BMW's product decisions have me ordering at Mercedes. The i4 is very nice for up to two adults and maybe some children in back. That's it, as far as I can tell. I cannot physically get into the back seat. The packaging that yielded the GT is no longer present, at least in the U.S. market.

Bummer indeed. It seems like the X line is evolving to the GT form, as they seem to be getting lower and longer. GT needs a comeback!

I would have strongly considered an iX3 or iX4 as a fully electric vehicle. But, they chose to launch an EV with a minimal back seat and cargo area for the sake of appealing to the coupe styling folks for the sake of a few more inches of length. That was lost on me, unfortunately. First non-BMW I'm now buying in a very long time.

What model Mercedes are you going with?

Wagon, SUV, or sedan?

EQE SUV. Would have considered the EQE sedan if it was a liftgate as they did with the too-large EQS sedan, but it’s a trunk, so no go. Looked at the BMW iX but there is no sunroof shade and it can’t be tinted. A non-starter here in the southwest desert. Strongest next choice was Genesis GV70 EV. Volvo/Polestar quality is suspect to me after recent IQS results and they have production delays. Cadillac Lyriq was disappointing in several ways.

The small cargo space of the EQE SUV would be a deal breaker for me. The full sized trunk is one of the reasons I bought my GT. Luckily I only have 27k miles on mine, so I could be ten years away from needing to replace it.

The measurement numbers don’t correlate with practical usability. I brought empty full size and carryon luggage to the MB showroom and can hold the same suitcases in the EQE as the GT. The more squared off EQE D pillar helps versus the more sloping GT liftgate. For Costco trips, things can be easily arranged and seats can fold down to provide more than needed space. Also, my bike fits inside without taking off the front wheel. Specifications can be deceiving.

I didn't know about the EQE sedan's trunk vs a liftgate on the EQS. Interesting that you are moving to an EV from the BMW.

The EQS doesn't have the same "presence" to me as the ICE S-Class, but maybe it will get better over time.

I have always liked the Mercedes's styling over BMW, Audi, and the rest for the past 10 years or so and they seemed to be doubling down on EVs in their lineup. If I were in the market now to replace my GT, I'd go either Mercedes or perhaps Tesla. I've even thought about a used 6 series GT, but those are really rare.

I would have been very happy to stay with BMW for my first EV, but some design decisions (i4 too small for rear seat/cargo) and no sunroof shade (iX) made those unacceptable to me. Still amazed that I had to reject an entire excellent vehicle such as iX (assuming one can get past the exterior design) for the sake of a sunroof shade! It drove incredibly well.

Mercedes is launching several choices, but Genesis is a very credible alternative. The GV70 EV was excellent! To me, Tesla doesn't meet my basic threshold for quality so I won't consider them. Also, philosophically, can't send Elon a dollar.
