Rotors at 23mm...change now with pads or wait?

Hi guys. I am getting ready to DIY change my pads and am thinking about if I should also do my rotors too. Both L and R are at 23mm (min spec is 22.4mm). Should I replace the rotors now too or will they last until my next pad change at about 27K more miles?

If you're changing your pads you should either resurface or replace the rotors. Removal of 1mm is about average with resurfacing, which would take the rotors below minimum, so you should replace them. I'd look at coated rotors, which don't rust as fast as bare iron. For instance:

Recommended, but not required. I have never done it and haven't had a problem yet in hundreds of thousands of kilometers both on the street and on track. The set of rotors in my previous car saw at least 5 different sets of pads and as long as you take your time to bed them in properly to replace the transfer layer, it should be fine (if the rotor isn't shot in some way, ie warped, bent, worn beyond spec etc).

Having said that... You only have a .3mm margin per side. I very much doubt that'll be enough for almost 30k miles. But if you don't drive aggressively or visit the track, again it should be fine to wear it a little past min width, there is quite some margin in manufacturer tolerances just to make cheapskates like me don't kill ourselves...

My understanding is that as long as thickness is above min. threshold, there is enough margin for a new set of pads below the min. without any issue.
