$200 for 3 years worth oil changes

Just got emailed this deal from the local BMW dealer. I don't change my own oil so I'm thinking this sounds good eh. I essentially do 1 oil change a year as I don't drive much but might get 4 in over the 3 years. Thoughts?

If you did change your own oil you could get them all for free from FCP Euro with their lifetime guarantee.

Yes, you are correct. That is an amazing thing with FCP Euro. But because I don't, I'm thinking this deal could be good?

It is a good deal if you drive more than 10k miles a year. If not it's nothing special.

I did it for my wife's X5. She drives a bunch for work, and we take her car on weekend trips all over so she ends up with an oil change every 7-8 months, so we should end up getting 4-5 over the 3 year period.

This is a good deal...but I don't want them locking my dme. My idrive say 6500 miles oil change interval since I went for the first time for my free oil change

Understand. I do think it's a good deal so I will explore. I'm not flashing a tune but DME locking - that's a great point for others to be aware of.

I saw that too. For me, it would have been a good deal as I was driving about 15k a year, for now I'm at home.

I think there is a minimum car age / # of miles you need to qualify.

I was actually considering doing this. I put on about 12-15k miles per year And my dealer charges $120 per oil change. So three years is already a savings. That said, my car is in that 'between' weird space lol. It's out of warranty and too young to qualify for this deal. Lord knows why they always squeeze harder at the middle LOL.

I found an indie Garage that is quite popular here. Guess I will just stick with that.

I got that same deal myself from my local BMW service center in Morristown but decided to go the DIY route.

I got it. Buy 2 get 1 free. Dumb amount of paperwork goes with it.

I got emailed the same deal, but when I called the dealer, they told me I don't qualify. My car is a 2016 model, but I purchased it new in Dec of 2017, and I only have 41k miles on it. The services advisor stated I have to have owned the car for at least 60 months, or have 60k miles on it.

Oh... That would disqualify me too. Thank you for sharing. I will call anyways but I'm sure it's the same "deal" for me too. Jerks! 🤣

Depends where you live. Some dealers charge $150 for an oil change. If he gets 3 for $300 (assuming one a year), not a bad deal.

I went with this…I only change oil once per year due to low mileage…I’m retired and have a 2nd car…but it actually works out to 4 oil changes for the price of 2ish ($125 per).

I bought the package and had my oil changed, that was 1…have 3 years left so 3 changes.

Only way I lose is if I lose the car.

I've always been suspicious of this because it's based on the CBS. My CBS doesn't tell me to change oil when it's been a year since last change. Has anyone gotten an annual change under this plan?

I’m not understanding…when the oil is changed they redo the interval timer…to 12 mos/10 k miles. When either is reached the display goes yellow then red, it’s right on the dash when you start up.

OK. It sounds like it's not a problem on F3x. I'm changing the oil more often that the CBS requires and have never reached the time or mileage limit on my F32.

However my E60 and E70 only warn on mileage, not on time. I know I've gone over a year once or twice without a warning. So the question remains, will BMW honor the annual oil change when the CBS doesn't require it?

I'm pretty sure the fine print allows annual, check the flyer or T&C on BMW's website.

I'm guessing they put that clause in there so customers don't try to use "I change my oil every 3k miles".

OP, that sounds like a decent price to get minimum 3 oil changes. You are talking $66/oil change. At FCP Euro it's $93 for just the oil and filter. Sure you could mail back your old oil, etc (kind of a pain). And you get free beverages at the dealer.

Only good part about going to the dealer is getting loaner vehicles . Drop the car off near the end of the day and get a loner vehicle to go have fun in.
