M340i vs M2 comp

Not sure if this has been posted before, apologies if it has.

I think the M340 is going to be a great car, just depends on how discounts play out..

Yep, it was in another thread here.

No doubting it's a very quick car. Just a shame about the looks (but then that's subjective)

On another video they had the supra vs the z4.

The Z4 also did the qtr mile in 12.6 (with rwd) so think he must have had a poor start with the damp.

But also means the supra which did it in 12s is faster than an M2 comp!

The Car throttle review suggests the M340i is much closer to a standard MSport than a proper M car, so it all depends on what it is you're looking for.

Both the M2 comp and M340i would manage better than 12.6 on a dryer track.

I think that's right; just because an M340i is quick in a straight line doesn't make it an M-car!

It would also be interesting to see how different the accelerations runs would have been with a DCT M2. I'm a great fan of a manual gearbox but I'd readily concede you're never going to match the speed of change of a DCT (or indeed a good auto such as that in the M340i).
