I'm heavily Biased toward MG Flasher because of my personal experience with the awesome product as well as numerous pleasant conversations with Jarek tuner but I'm sure all the top guys have a quality product with good support with few bumpy exceptions here and there but that's like any business.

Went from MPPSK to BM3 Stage 1 93
They all seem great though to be honest. I love that there's multiple options now too. Competition is never a bad thing because then it just comes down to personal preference and what each person is looking for overall. It also helps develop better products that are constantly being improved Thanks for the starting the poll too! |

For me, I went with BM3 for a few reasons. PTF have been around the longest in terms of BMW flash tunes so that was a selling point for me. Price was also a factor and the ability to transfer the license if I bought another BMW, or sell it if I got out of BMW entirely. I also like the flexibility of the software and the options they give you. Plus since they're a larger company, they have a better customer service team that can usually get to your problem/question pretty fast. BM3 appears to be a little more of a conservative flash when looking at some of the others, but that's also just for now. PTF, and other tuners, are constantly updating their maps and making revisions to make the car as smooth as possible. I don't think there will ever be a "final" map. Every car is also different too and will adapt its own way to each flash....it's just how these cars are programmed. At the end of the day though, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the available options. They all seem to have a vast wealth of knowledge behind what they're doing and they all appear to be having great results with them too. So there is no right/wrong answer anyone is going to be able to give you. You have to figure out what you're looking for and then pick a best fit pretty much. |

Anyone can say that any one tune is “numero uno” but does that mean it’s the best on the market? Not necessarily. Bootmod3 is very popular and that’s why a lot of people run it rather than other flash tunes such as the MG flasher, HCP, and Mission Performance tunes. At the end of the day do your research on each and then decide what route you want to go with. Right now, for example, only Mission Performance offers a transmission flash. Coming from an active8 you would be fine with any of these companies on a stage 1 tune. Once you go stage 2 then you may want to consider a tuner who offers a trans flash in order to raise the torque limits of your transmission.

MP Stage 2 ECU and MP Stage 1 TCU here.
Running the tune for almost 15,000 miles with zero issues thus far. I enjoy hitting 20 PSI, 7*+ timing and 0-60 under 4 all on 93 octane while having more safety (a stronger detection for knock then the factory) built into the tune I also can care less about putting my exhaust into multiple gunshot mode and don't want to flash a new tune or a new octane level, I just gas with what I want (E30, 100 octane, 93) and go.

i just did this last weekend 460 miles of back and forth driving across SoCal high desert due to kiddos soccer tournaments (SoCal to Lancaster and back 2x over two days) - didn't want to deal with finding E85 out of town and quite frankly didn't care much about added power given the fact that the cruise control would be set at 80 and I'd have 3 kids in the car. Dropped 91 in the tank 2x without concern. Eesy breezy. No concern.

Bootmod3 so far has been great as well - can definitely feel the power keep on chugging and the shifts are like stock. The one thing that I miss from my Active 8 is that there is this moment when you're WOT in sport mode in 3rd where you can feel the torque kick in hard and the power just feels like its exponentially building. You're going to have a lot of fun with that. I'd also like to give major props to PTF support as they have been so responsive to all my questions and pushed out a test tune to me today after my initial inquiry earlier this week. |

I'll let you know if the new test map they sent gives me that 3rd gear bump I loved dearly. I will say that BM3 stage 1 certainly keeps pushing much longer than the A8. However, I'm not too gung ho on going way over speed limits so I prefer to have some hefty power in my acceleration on my way to cruising speed (which the A8 did an awesome job at). Will give an update after this weekend.

Ever since it was released last week, Bootmod3 has been the most popular tune for us

MP Stage 2.5 ECU and Stage 1 Trans Flash
About 16000 on the car. 12000 with ECU Tune Stage 2. 3000 with Stage 2.5 tune and Stage 1 Trans flash. Alex from MP always answered the phone if I called with a question. However, email response was lacking. No drivability issues whatsoever. Car runs great and is a beast. VRSF Catless DP and Dinan CF intake also installed. Always run 93 here in Philly area. It appears that PTF and BM3 have excellent CS and a great tune too. I expect that they may also offer a Trans flash at some point. Alex is working on the fuel pump issue and I expect he will be first to market with a HPFP. All these tuners will just make the B58 platform better IMHO. For now I'm sticking with MP as I have had zero issues after 15000 miles. PTF BM3 is tempting because of their CS and the sheer volume of people running the tune so they should have the most data available to them in short order...Time will tell...Life is short...Get a tune and go faster!

I agree that other companies are or have caught up with tunes and the amount of data that comes in it pretty good for BM3. It just don't know how much more can be squeezed out of a car with tune only
