Factory fill on some of the most advanced engines on the market and also recommended by BMW for certain model years and you're outright calling it garbage?

Thats actually hilarious.
It's good oil dont get me wrong, it's just not as good as it's portrayed, truth is changing your oil regularly with a good filter will keep any engine in good shape.

Feel free to look up blackstone labs oil analysis of virgin oil from M1.

Yup this Penzoil LL04 is a major game changer. Oil change DIY went from $70 to $30-40

I just used to get it online. Same price. You have to pay shipping but I'd buy two oil changes at once to avoid that

Our dealer messed up and changed to LL-04 oil on my wife's X5d for the first oil change - her fuel economy went down almost 10% before I looked into item numbers on invoice to realize wrong oil was used. Both our manuals states to use LL-04 as a temporary top-off only and replace with LL-12 only. But I also realize for N47, engine didn't change much when oil change was made (I think in 2016 model year).

I follow manufacturer guidelines on all our 3 diesels (X5d, 328d, and Passat TDI CKRA) - 10,000 miles (probably 200-500 miles before that mark). Both BMWs are at around 30K and Passat at almost 90K, so far so good (knocking on wood). Passat gets 5W-30 (507.00) and BMWs get LL12FE.

LL12 is a lighter weight oil hence the HE in the name. Of course your mpg is going to drop but protection is increased.

Probably to meet some emissions standards yet mpg ratings dropped after LCI
