I've seen them in the Traf Centre store, very nice. The Blue (or maybe black) are the sensible choice from that Olympic range.

I'm not working there by the way or associated, just sharing and helping someone maybe.

If I hadn't just changed my Tag to a blue perforated strap I might have gone for this.

Not as much off list as yours, but I thought this speedy was nice:

https://www.hackettwatches.com/hw/items/JWEBAVLKK6

He has a couple of other Speedmasters with bigger percentage discounts too.

You're right, I can no longer afford the watch!

Bus apparently rolled out of the factory last week and I may be able to pick it up next week. Watch this [expansive] space!

There'll be 3 or 4 weeks in QC first, no rush.

I saw them when I was buying my watch, thought they looked like kids toy watches, nothing to them at all.

Looks like most others do too, or the discounting wouldn't be so high.

Must admit I do like the omega watches, one of the few i do, very classic looking. Been toying with one of the moonwatch versions, but about 10 x the price I’ve ever spent on a watch

Go and see it first, it looks good in pics, but looks like it's made out of almost nothing in real life.

There's a really good reason the rrp has dropped from £4K to £2.5k, and desirability isn't it.

A lack of QC may be part of the alleged issues, so that would be great!

A few comments on forums from people with experience of Slovakian-built and Solihull-built models seem to indicate that the new factory is turning out better ones. Which makes perfect sense.

Fingers crossed...

Apparently it's somewhere in Europe getting near a boat now. Tracking isn't quite at Genius standards.

Yeah, I won't be photographing the back very much

4 cars - the 206(?) is back from it's repairs then? And something else has joined the fleet?

Not sure about Solihill or Slovakia, but I know that about 600 of the first 800 new Evoques off the line in Halewood failed QC and caused production to be halted for a while.

Another old British factory...

I'm not saying that's the reason for the quality woes, but it might be. At least they QC'd them though, the way JLR are talked about, you'd think there was no QC.

On-topic. There's no doubt that Omegas are better built than any of the motors we are talking about. Still enjoying my now 7-year old SPO.

Why does it take 600 cars to realise they have a QC problem? :

The 206 is in the garage still awaiting repairs. I think the official terminology is dry stored. 15 years old and 39k miles....one family owner from new...

My daughter has a new GLC ready for the impending new arrival (and the fact that hubby works for a car co and gets cheap lease!) so I have kept her old Mini - partly because they are fun to drive, partly as I can just pay the balloon and get it at cost, and partly because she fetched it with her Mum and it was the last trip out her Mum made. Bad reason to keep a car but who cares, it works for me. Fiesta sold back to person I borrowed it off ready for her daughter to learn to drive in but not required till Dec so currently littering up the drive...

Looking forward to seeing the new bus and resisting the temptation to swap the Audi - son in law was telling me about great deals on new M5CP with their dealer if I buy this weekend.... Wont help my retirement pot at that price so resisting! However a cheap 640i GT or 540i Touring and I may give in....

Bad reason to keep a car? I'd struggle to find a better one, so keep on holding that one

By a similar, but different, token - I am a thousand times more attached to our Auris (first car we bought together and the car that transported my daughter home from hospital when she was born) than I ever was to the 440i.

M5 is possibly THE car to have, the one I have wanted all my life. But expensive as you say. The 640i GT is a cracking bargain, not much that touches it at its pre-reg price point IMHO.

No problem with quality control, they were doing a good job it seems.

I also have no idea if the quality issue was the same on all cars. It was a new model, there could have been multiple issues, so not quickly rectified.

All I know is the QC area was full and production was stopped for some reason. I know this because a logistics contract, that I account manage, delivers 42 HGV loads a day into the plant, full of bumpers and spoilers, and we had to totally stop unplanned for several days.

My boss has just picked up an M5 CP, he's as bad as Chris, in 3 years he's had an M3, an M3 CP and now an M5 CP. Taken a deposit loss on them all. He has a mate who works at BMW who allegedly got him a 4 year deal, 20,000 miles, for £750 a month, with £10k in. So about £950 a month. Expensive in one way, but much better than the £1300 a month I can find online for similar.
