Brembo Calipers and upgrades
Hey everyone, proud new owner of a series 4 sport here
Absolutely love the thing. I want to upgrade the calipers and get them resprayed with a new set of 19" alloys. I've been searching the boards last night and reading all about the Brembo calipers. Are the calipers one size fits all on the F Models? Mine's is a 2014 420D M Sport and I've been looking at these on eBay; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113572467...torefresh=true If I purchase these will I need to buy new rotors? Also, looking at the car, are there any performance/kit upgrades you can recommend? Appreciate any help with this |

I think you will need to modify your emergency brake to make it work and get the proper size rotors

What kind of modification would be needed for the e-brake? As far as I know, all F3x cars use a drum brake inside the rear rotor for the parking/e-brake. I'd assume the drum of the rear rotors is the same size for all cars.

Congrats and welcome! Newer member here myself so I can't help with the brakes. Beautiful car though. My recommendation would be to throw a gloss black grill on that bad boy, and enjoy!!

Hey I was just in Glasgow last week! This post would probably be suited more for the brakes section though.
Anyway those calipers are used on a ton of different models so they should work with your 4 series, I just did the upgrade myself a few months ago and had them powdercoated purple. You will indeed need new rotors: 370mm for front, 345mm for rear. There are MANY different part numbers out there depending on what you want: blank, dimpled, slotted, dimpled and slotted. 1 or 2 piece. I personally went for Brembo 2 Piece Dimpled/Slotted. Front: 09.C394.13 Rear: 09.C395.13 . Though I don't think these have anti rust coating as they are rusting pretty good now. I didn't have to do anything with the handbrake. I would also suggest rebuilding them if possible.

I would really ask the seller to find some part numbers on the calipers otherwise it's kind of a guessing game,

Ah that's right. I always forget that there are blue 340mm calipers out there.

FYI- the same size and part number Front Brake Pads work with the "370mm" calipers and the "340mm" calipers. In the F-series there are two different diameter of parking brake shoes that ride inside the rear rotors. So you will find that there are 345mm x 24mm rotors that come in different models depending on the diameter of the emergency brake shoes that ride inside the rotor. If you have the smaller, less common emergency brake you do not have to try to change out your rear hubs and parking brake hardware. Just find the correct rotors that fit your car with the M Sport rear brakes. Hope this helps! |

This is brake upgrade related question so it should not be a thread hijacking...
My question is after you do the upgrade. Do you need to reprogram the computer (coding) for the bias change? Or everything just gonna work fine? |
