Lci climate panel upgrade

I have a 2013 320i xdrive, I have bought an lci climate control panel but when I plug it in nothing works and the heated rear screen light flashes. Is this compatible and need coding or will it not work.

Hi,

I fitted the panel without issue using an ebay Y-Connector. No coding required

Does your car have IHKA3? I think IHKA3 came in later than 2013.

If your car doesn't have IHKA3, the LCI climate control panel won't work.

Hook esys up and check if you have the correct module.

Was that the whole panel including all the buttons or just the surround?

I did the swap. The LCI illuminated trim panel is just the surround. You need a Y adapter cable to split the power source from the storage compartment LED to the LCI trim.

Easier and cheaper to buy from ebay than trying to make your own.

IHKA3 is only required if you swap out the LCI climate control to the newer version to change the colour from white to red on the temperature read out using the auto headlights light sensor.

I was hoping to swap the whole thing over. Seems i'm not able to do that.

It will still work but will stay on the white mode, which is too bright during the night. The only way to switch it to red is if you turn the dash brightness dial, but that also dims the dash.
You can't just code in IHKA3, you would need to do a module swap.

That's the problem I have, no IHKA3. Not bothered about the surround I just liked the cleaner display of the LCI panel.
