I little warning here, by switching PDC unit, you risk PDC not working at all with the Android screen. It depends on the revision if the PDC unit. I had this issue: PDC stopped working completely, also in OEM mode, when Android screen was plugged in. Solved by getting the newest revision of the PDC unit (66209252638 for E8x/E9x/Z4). So now you know, if you experience this. If your back/front PDC unit is among the bottom four in this list, it might work.

Camera works when Android is not yet started. This is programmed in the MCU as I read sonewhere else.

With my sd625 it works....

Must be a bug. They changed things in ver 3.8.0, prior to this version it did not work in my E87. Did you have the same behavior in previous versions?

Remember, you need to change option Gear Selection in Factory settings: Manual is for using the Detect cable, Automatic for using +12V Camera cable and let Android decide when to switch on the camera. Sometimes, the option is reversed (bug), so try changing if it doesn't work. When correct, the PDC/camera interface should be displayed when engaging reverse gear, regardless if a camera is connected, and Detect cable should NOT be connected (else you wouldn't know if the camera is switched on by Detect cable being powered from an external source). Here are my issues:

-Android iDrive date shows Jan 1
-Android iDrive music doesn’t use BT music. It's a separate Android app and the iDrive section only works with the pre-installed songs on the hard drive.
-Dimming is inconsistent between iDrive and Android settings. iDrive settings don't seem to save/work.
-Carplay (zlink) does not automatically start when BT and Wifi are connected
-I changed the BMW bootup logo and now I can't revert it back to the original
-I'd like to remove the "android" logo when booting up
-MPH on OEM side is way off. Also uses liters for gas.
-Bluescreen (I didn't order it, but got it anyway) can't be seen with polarized sunglasses

I supposed I'm wondering what value the Android iDrive screens provide? Carplay is great when it's working, but the audio isn't that great. I had to run AUX from the HU to the armrest to get this to work.

I ordered from Navidom, but it's the same from Avin. A friend ordered from Avin and the packaging, everything, is the exact same.

1 - My Date / Time never seems to sync right ( I agree with that )
2 - The music app will play any songs you copy to its internal memory or from USB.. You can also remove the songs or link that to a diff app like spotify
3 - I dont seem to have any dimming issues, If headlights are on it dims and if they are not its brighter.
4 - Carplay seems to work fine, Somtimes I just have to fiddle with it but mostly its fine and autostarts
5 - I havent messed with the logo stuff
6 - Would be cool to remove the Android Logo on boot but not a deal breaker
7 - Agree I wish it was in gallons not liters and that MPH is way way off, Says like 125mph when im doing 75mph
8 - Blue Anti Glare - I also ordered black and got blue, I feel black doesnt even exist because many others said the same.

For me ( I had a 6.5" without Bluetooth audio ), I gained wireless carplay and a much nicer big screen... The android apps
and custom stuff is neat but mostly im in Carplay and just love that I now have full navigation, wireless streaming audio amd
a much nicer screen.

The most major complaint I have is the sound quality is a little worse, I have HK Audio with and I notice it.. The latest 3.8 software
appears to have made it a little better and if we can just find a way to leverage the internal DSP or get Viper4Audio or something to
work that maybe resolved as well..

Ok I answer to myself, To root is no needed. I have tried to connect with my android phone and I can disable the topbar, it's look really cool.

It could be that the system is odex (meaning the resources are precompiled at first boot after flash) this leads to not being able to replace system apks without deodexing the whole rom. But my android moding days where mainly with android prior to android 9, so no idea who this would work with android 9.
If i got time i will look into this after work, first i need to setup my environmeht to unpack the rom images, cause as i saw in a quick check they are now packed in an ext4 file format

I found alot of odex files, so probably this is active.

Unpacking the image with URTool is quiet simple, i made a fork for us here.
You just need to put your update into the same folder, rename it to android 9.zip and start the unpack_system_android9.bat batch file to get to the main apps.

unpacking the apk via apktool should be nothing new for you then
