So I'm installing an ER chargepipe and VRSF intercooler today - on the home stretch finishing the intercooler install and noticed the tabs that lock into the radiator fan are off-size so they wont fit together (the intercooler bracket is way bigger than the notch in the fan):



Anyone install one of these with a similar issue?

Looking at their website and some other install threads they have a different bracket on the intercooler.

Guess I'll have to send it back either way - when I mounted it all the way it sat too low to even use the brackets anyways.

Should have gotten a CTS Turbo fmic, works 100% with stock CP or ER CP.
The vrsf fmic seems to only work with vrsf cp from what everyone on the forum says.

Only the HD and Race FMIC will only work with our chargepipe. The standard street intercooler works with both.

I installed the same intercooler on mine - you're right, the brackets don't line up, but mine still sit and fit fine, especially with the torx screws locked in.

I ended up modifying and cutting the tabs so that they would still work so it'll have to do

just realized i have this same issue and didnt think of any way to get the fan into those tabs. any ideas? has this been fixed in a later design than the one i ordered in december '17?

did you end up just having those tabs sit below the fan shroud? Basically mine is resting on the fmic tabs since i saw no way to get that into the tabs

I just cut the tabs to the proper size so everything fits

I would like to know as well. 5" Stepped HD will not work with ER charge pipe?

The HD as well as all the VRSF intercoolers will bolt on to the ER without a problem!

I just emailed Mike from Extreme for pricing on VRSF fmic and Charge pipes. I also emailed him for pricing on Active Autowerk fmic and charge pipes. It's good to know its easier to stick with the same brand for fmic and charge pipes. I already ordered VSRF spacers and ER catted downpipe. None of which have yet to be installed. I'm pretty excited, but I'll need some stickier rubber to go with all of this or else I'll have nothing but wheelspin. I have my OEM rubber and wheels listed in the classified section for sale. Once the tires sell, I'll be on to tires better suited for AZ roads...

any chance you could comment on the OPs issue with the tabs? I have the same issue and everyone seems to be focused on fitment between a chargepipe and an fmic and not the picture posted by the OP.

i see the intercooler on your website now shows different tabs. did it change?

The tab is a simple mistake made by our fab guys, it will be rectified on the next batch of intercoolers! In order to make the existing tabs fit you'd have to put less than 10 minutes of effort with a set of pliers, it's pretty simple

some pliers and hammering and "quality" VRSF product will fit your bmw guys, BMWs are not cheap china made cars, spend some extra and get quality products like wagner, next time VRSF will send you intercooler from golf mk4 with manual how to fit it in F30 with some pliers and hammer

Hilarious because companies like Wagner, and your "reputable" brands get plenty of their products manufactured in China. Example 90% of your iPhone. :.

"Made in China" equated with"cheapness" posts are pretty xenophobic, and the quite ironic because plenty of American companies choose to manufacture in China becuase its far cheaper to facilitate it there. Annnnnnnddd then they charge YOU double. Who is the loser in that equation?

"China made" - I mean designed and made by cheap China manufacturer. China has plenty of it's own car brands and these cars are probably the best place to install VRSF products, when you are suggested to make some "tuning" with pliers and hammer for the product to fit.. BMW is not cheap brand and you should not use chargepipes which doesn't fit because someone made it wrong diameter or intercoolers which should be "tuned" with pliers to fit. Respect your BMW, don't install crap products in it
