Just purchased DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner Stage 1
2014 328i Sport. I just purchased the DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner Stage 1. Can any one tell me what to expect from this? This is the first MOD I'm doing. After researching the JB4 and Dinan I went with Dinan. It's quite a bit more expensive but with great reviews.
Also on a side note, I have seen lots of questions on the top speed of other people's f30 cars. I can confirm that my sport model 328i stock tops out at 160 MPH. |

I purchased one about 3 1/2 weeks ago for my 2017 330xi. Immediate torque gains right where the Dinan dyno chart from their site shows you'll get them. Total power increase across the full range of RPMs widening your overall power band. But the increased torque in the 2400 - 3900 range in 1st to 4th from a stop is the sweet spot for me. It's great. I never disable it and would not want it removed my car.
Having said that, things also felt a little "weird" to me initially. Not rough, but weird like occasionally while at WOT it wasn't sure if it should shift or not sometimes, or like it needed more fuel/lost power when it shifted. (sometimes from 1st to 2nd and other times while shifting around in higher gears at speeds of 70 - 90 MPH) But none of this was substantial enough to say I lost overall power gains; it just felt different. I wouldn't say it was running rough or misfiring or anything like that. It got quite a bit better after two weeks of driving. Guys at the shop drove it last week and said it feels fine to them, and think it might smooth out even more as it learns. My point is: expect things to feel different and give your car, and yourself a little time to adjust. Some have said it reduces turbo lag, but I don't think it does that at all. Once the turbo kicks in, it performs better than stock though, obviously. I think you made a good choice. I bought it after I drove an M2 and needed to do something to stop myself from buying another car. This did the trick (for now) I have no numbers. I couldn't find anyone who could dyno my car before I got the tuner installed and I've never done a 0-60. This is strictly a butt-dyno opinion. Like I said: I wouldn't remove this from my car. I love it. It's staying. |

I did the install last night. Needless to say I think I will be purchasing new tires soon. The throttle response has improved substantiality. In sport plus mode I'm getting tire chirping going into 3rd. It definitely has made a difference in the overall power. I have a local shop with a Dyno I will take it there and see the difference with and without the tune. I will post back with the results when I get them. Next mod will be catles exhaust.

While I notice you drive a 328i and a 330xi, have you heard about how well this works on a 320i? I can't seem to find a thread that points to this but was curious if you guys thought it might yield similar results?

Should provide proportional gains to the 328i. For example, if the 328i picks up 20% more HP, I would expect the 320i to do the same.

I also recommend getting your 320i coded for SAT. Not only does that add Sport+ mode but the shifts are quicker and smoother. The SAT coupled with the Dinan Stage 1 Tuner totally transformed the car and was well worth it! |

I have the Dinan stage 3 installed 2years ago and still loving mine. Have no actual numbers on specific, but my wife hating on it everytime I step on it and her head hits the headrest is good enough for me. Lol
