Installing M sport steering wheel with single stage airbag

Car is a 2015 F30 328i with sport package. I bought an M sport steering wheel from Europe which has a single stage airbag. I'm in the US so my car had a dual stage. I had my car coded last night but the airbag light remains on. Any suggestions? Esys was used and it looks correct but obviously something is wrong.

If you had someone else code it, ask them to recheck everything again to make sure it's successful. Is it connected securely, and did you reset the battery for at least 1 minute?

Once the airbag light comes on, it won't reset on its own even after coding. You have to reset it using TOOL32 or another scan tool that is able to reset the airbag light.

Do you know what was coded? I think there are two different parameters that have to be changed.

It's important to keep in mind that your vehicle has other airbags, also dual stage. Mixing single stage and dual stage airbags carries risks.

Resetting the airbag light is probably the issue. The coding was done remote.

This is very very valid point, not to sound like an ass.... but to the OP, please be aware of the potential risks and ensure you are willing to accept it. Airbags are potentially life saving items and not something that can be "tested" easily before hand (i.e. if there are issues, you won't know about it until you actually need the airbag to function).

From my understanding, the dual stage bags use a sensor on the seats to determine load/weight and either deploy stage 1 or stage 2; I have no idea how coding it to be single stage will impact the dual stage bags deployment. I would assume that it would deploy fully (i.e. stage 2), as it should ignore the weight/load sensor, however I don't know 100% for sure (perhaps some other forum members can comment on this).

Granted I also changed my steering wheel and airbag (from base to sport), so take my opinion/thoughts with grain of salt lol (however, the airbag and wheel was from US forum member and was just plug and play, no coding required)
