23N vs. 24Y
I am getting ready to buy a 3-series with the shadow sport and track handling packages. It looks like my standard wheel choices are 23n and 24y. It looks to me like 23n is orbit gray and the 24y is black (although pictures look silver). It also looks like 24y comes with run flats and 23n does not. Is my understanding correct? Anyone with opinions on cosmetics would be appreciated. All things being equal, I would prefer not getting the RFTs.

I don't know those wheel codes but, pay very careful attention to the descriptions of the wheels and what tires they have. When I ordered my 2017 340i with the Track Handling package, I didn't read the fine print on the wheel choices. Only the 18" orbit gray wheels came with Michelin PSS non-RFT. I got the upgraded 19" wheels and they came with RFT. This was not obvious to me because the Track Handling package description said it was designed around the non-RFT tires, and I assumed no matter what wheels I got would have non-RFT. I was incorrect.
BMW USA hasn't updated their site to show the Track Handling package on the 3-series configurator, so I don't know if what I just said is still true. (I have a hunch that it is.) Either way, decide whether you like the look of the 18" wheels. I didn't; I'd have gone for the 19s even if I had known they'd come with RFT. It's a bummer the 19s have RFT, but I'm just going to wear them out and then have non-RFTs fitted. To me that is easier than buying the car with the ugly 18s and then having to buy new wheels and swap the tires over. I really haven't had a complaint about the RFTs ...put me in the minority I guess. Even on the crap roads around me the 19" RFT rides very well w/ the adaptive suspension. Charles

That should help. From what i can tell the 24y is machined face with black windows and barrels and would come with run flats. Only the orbital gray 398s with mixed performance will be non-run flats per the description. Your dealer should be able to help you better understand the packages though
