Anyone leasing a BMW?
Just wondered if anyone is currently leasing a BMW? Or plans to in future. Some of the leasing deals on the web from random browsing (sorry no links) seem pretty reasonable.
I might seriously consider this next time, because I'm not bothered about ever owning the car and I get paid an allowance from work. What do you thinks chaps? Good or bad idea compared to PCP? |

Yes. I have mine through fleetprices.co.uk. Way cheaper than a dealer, although be aware that you can't break out of a lease like you can with PCP.
Car was a factory order and delivered in about 10 weeks. It came from a dealer and was dropped off at my door (on the back on a small transporter) with just a few miles on the clock. Not the 'theatre' of a dealer handover at a showroom but the driver spent an hour inspecting the vehicle, going over all the controls, etc.

I've always opted for pcp as bit more flexible for getting out of it. However now I have had my first lease there really are some bargin out there, you just have to be quick to snap them up and not be too fussy on make, model or spec!
I went for 2 years on my current lease and wouldn't like to go longer. Also depends on what deals there are. My wife's new car is on pcp as it was 0% and still got a good discount, my Volvo is a lease as it was comically cheap for a 46k car. |

I spoke to a Merc dealer about an E Class. He said MB sell the cars cheaper to lease companies than franchise dealers so they can't compete. I don't know if BMW do the same.
As with PCP, options usually add nothing to the residual value, and as you are paying for the depreciation (plus interest) it's sensible to try and find a base model that's fully loaded.

Insurance can be a bit of agg because the you're not the registered keeper. Many are catching up now but some are still perplexed by you trying to insure a car you don't own. I leased an Audi direct from an Audi dealer through VWFS and even the two weeks' free insurance from Audi themselves to allow easy delivery wouldn't cover me because I wasn't the registered keeper.

I least an M3 a few years ago. It was nice the road tax and servicing were included. Especially the price of those on an m car. I bailed early. I had to pay a lump of cash. Didn't feel and more expensive than bailing on a PCP.

Had my 330d leased with no issues at all. Came thru a BMW dealer in Leicester and finance through Hitachi. No problems at all. Car got collected, 30mins of making sure it wasn't trashed and away it went, no additional money to spend.
Now on my second lease, Audi A5 Sportback. Very very good deal. Again signed docs thru Slough Audi and finance thru VWFS. No problems. If you want a new car every few years then it's cost effective. |

I leased my last F30 through a broker, currently in a PCP deal now.

How have you found insuring a lease car, given that you're not the registered keeper, as mentioned above? If you are forced to use a narrow selection of insurers, does that cancel out some of the saving?

I had no problem. I just had to tell the insurer (More Than) that the registered keeper was a lease company. I did it all online and my premiums weren’t affected.

Leased 335d here, there's a lot of misinformation out there
Insursnce was easy Pronav and hk amongst others add a bit to residual so "only" cost half the sum over my term You are deluded if you think options on PCP have any benefit to your cars worth at the end of contract as numerous trade in threads here testify The bottom line for me is money My 335d with Pronav will have cost approx 9k over 2 years including road tax, or 18 over 4 years. Not 100% on the current TRL but its something like 35k cost with 14k residual plus interest charges plus 500/year tax which is factored in a lease You do the math |
