Interior Aluminum trim peeling

I noticed about a year ago my brushed aluminum trim started lifting on the dash trim piece at the passenger sife, which seems to be a somewhat common problem with the aluminum trim. However, all the threads I looked at had the person just swap trim or warranty a new one. It looks to me like the aluminum trim is under tension when attached to the plastic backing and it’s “natural shape” is now bowed up for whatever reason.

I’ve tried gorilla glue, which worked for maybe 3 days, gave up for a bit, then recently tried to sand, prep, and apply JB weld plastic formulation, which lasted about two weeks before the trim popped back up. Any suggestions on better adhesives to use? I’d rather not buy another piece just to have that happen again, but I do really like the brushed aluminum look. The door handle trims are a little scuffed form a previous owner, but not terribly and I haven’t seen a better trim for my black interior with red accents yet IMO

If both pieces are being prepped properly and you still can't get it to stay together I'd say just end the frustration and buy a replacement piece whether it be new or used. Any idea on the cost? Good luck!
