Separate N55 cover rectangle trim?

Just received a full carbon engine cover however there's no overlay for the center..

AFAIK the F3x N55 engine covers were a one piece design, however maybe this differs on the F87? Can I source the piece that slots in the middle?

I found this photo online which shows a standard plastic engine cover with the same cutout tabs like my carbon one has, this leads me to think that maybe the M2 engine covers had some kind of trim that pushed/clipped on?

Can anyone shed any light before I fill the holes with body filler and potentially ruin it lol I'm wanting to split paint it asap.

They don't even appear to show the correct oem engine cover to start with haha, but yeah the F3x N55 one doesn't have a split trim like I require, from what I've worked out it's only the N55 M2's that had them but even then they don't sell them separately so I'm not sure how I'm going to source one.

I believe that what you are missing is the M Performance logo with trim that gets installed into the blank spot. So, the China made cover you have is intended to be the replica of M Performance Cover.

Real OEM only lists the decal kit here as part of upgrade kit for regular N55 covers that have a flat spot and no slits next to it (not a complete proper M Performance replacement engine cover). There is no separate trim piece available for purchase shown:

Or, other choise: complete M Performance cover as Part No 11127641556. Then the trim piece can be lifted and replaced onto your CF one.

Looking at the pictures it appears that the makers of the carbon cover took a mold of the original with the center strips removed. One would expect they'd have made copies of the center strips as well, but apparently not. Only they know for sure.

I have the MPerf N55 cover. The center isn’t separate, just the badges. The center is part of the mold, like on the regular Twin Turbo N55 cover…

Thanks guys, the seller finally replied saying the product photos were of a customers modified cover that they sent him

Turns out the piece I need is only on the F87 N55 covers..

Thing is I don't want a "POWERED BY M" design on my engine cover haha. Looking at some back photos you can see one of the tabs so it must unclip just like the badges do on the regular N55 covers

Based on that I guess I need to find either a pre-lci M2 or N55 active-hybrid engine cover as they both utilise this design. I'm going to have to customise this section so it'll be getting sanded down and painted anyway.

Well in other news I finished painting it..

The plan is to source the center section, then repaint it with the same weissgold I used for the 435, potentially leaving it satin too for some nice contrast.
