I personally think BMW is sandbagging with the 335i. I'm of the belief there will be a model in between the 335 and the M3 that will offer comparable power to the S4. It's definitely a compliment that the 335 can hang with the S4 for the most part but I think they are in different classes.
When you compare the n55 X3 with the 335 you see the 0-60 times are within a thenth and the X3 still weighs nearly 700 lbs more. I think BMW is leaving the door open for a near 5 sec 0-60 car (granted 0-60 isn't the best guage for performance but at least it is something tangible). |

In my opinion the S4 is a nice car but it doesn't standout for the money especially with the new design of the VW Jetta. They look very similar especially in the back. Of course I can tell the difference but cars are my thing.

I was curious about those too so checked them last night and I don't have those. I changed the settings in iDrive to maximum for interior lighting and no difference.

Me neither. Not sure how some photos have white light in the footwells and orange in the door panels/B-pillar either. Mine is either all white or all orange (with the exception of the light in the center console). Still haven't solved this mystery.

I don't understand the 10 Euro difference. In the states the S4 Prestige (navigation, back up camera, heated everything, B&O sound system, 19 inch rims, Ipod adaptor, LED lights, Quattro, Satelite radio) + Sports diff is 55,100. FULLY LOADED. The 335i (no x-drive as its not out with similar options is 55,425, again fully loaded. Factor in X-drive when its avaliable and it'll be nearly 57K.
Furthermore after a quick web search the best numbers from the S4 are 0-60 in 4.4 and 1/4 in 12.8 (non tuned). The best i've seen for the F30 335i is 4.7 and 13.3 respectably. However the S4 in almost every review runs 0-60 in 4.4-4.7 and 1/4 in 12.8-13.0, while the 335i is usually in the low 5's and mid to upper 13's. Maybe i'm biased because i have an S4 as my daily driver but the car is simply the better of the two. Its cheaper, faster, and sexier IMHO

Oops I guess they changed the tradition of sharing platforms in 2011. Passat was B7 up till 2010. Besides there is nothing wrong with sharing platforms anyway it reduces cost.

Driving dynamics is more important than looks IMO. I never drove the F30, but I have experienced the latest gen Audi A4 and the E9X/M3. The Audi drives well, but the BMW makes you smile. And what happened to the front of the Audi? Hideous if you ask me. The BMW design is more clever, no doubt.

How much do you use the handbrake? I never would have thought that it would make a big difference to anyone. I think about my parking brake about as much as I think about my hazard lights button.

Are your cars always automatics? I can understand not needing it in an auto. I use my handbrake in my manual to hold the car on steep hills while stopped at a light. I never roll backwards and I never "slip" the clutch.

So no hand brake turns, power sliding, drifting?

To break into a slide on snow I turn the steering wheel, goose the throttle, then turn the other way into the skid. I maintain the power slide with throttle control. The parking brake never comes into play. |

I agree. When I test drove an A4, I found the MMI to be very laggy. iDrive is flawless, knock on wood.
