Two things really. Firstly, I have been quite critical of the idea of 4wd on a 3 (here and elsewhere). I now have direct personal experience of one situation in which it would have been useful.

Secondly, just a bit of fun.

Am I not a silly-billy. So it was you!
Just imagine taking a 3 to a farm. Serves you right. No, you are the silly-billy!
Good fun watching the vid.

Impressive you got the whole tug of war team out.

But seriously, not even an xDrive is good for that type of action.

Yes, and it was astounding how easily it moved with 20 guys pulling it. Before this, the wheels were just spinning in the mud.

Impressive torque, could feel the kick in the back.

With 18" wheels you would have sailed out most elegantly!

Good point. I considered this when speccing the wheels. Figured that given access to 20 guys and a rope, the 19s would do just fine

As I ordered my 335xd I was thinking exactly this...

...in case I fancy parking in a muddy field at the bottom of a hill I'll buy a 4x4.

So, do I now need 3 sets of tyres to include some BF Goodrich off roaders too??

I know. Daft as a brush!
I think he is a secret porno film maker and used his stationwagon as a prop. Got his cast to build up a sweat before the real fun and games took place. The mind boggles.

Guilty. But there is a reason why it didn't seem quite so stupid at the time, that I shall not bore you with just now.

Dunno tbh. Just spent a weekend away with some mates at a guest house in rural Dorset. Think it's an ex-farm.
