bootmod3 update - Additional and **FREE** OTS maps for N55-EWG (Stage 0+ M2)

Hey guys, quick update on something new we've added and changed for all BM3 users. OEM M2 map is really great learning maps on how to self-tune your N55-EWG cars with BM3. Other than boost control all of it applies to N55-PWG cars too. People often ask about details on it just like the CS and GTS maps on the M4, how they work, what are the differences in tuning, what did BMW change that makes them make more power, etc. You've all seen dynos which show decent gains over the OEM N55 EWG software. Some of you also wouldn't mind trying it on your N55s just to see what the fuss is about

We had the Stage 0+ (M2) map as an OTS map for a while now but it required 1 additional map credit ($50 on the N55) to use. We've now made that map 0 credits worth (free)

At this point bootmod3 license cost includes this additional map along with any other OTS map that is worth 1 map credit.

We're adding in another change to be able to import either of these Stage 0+ maps into your own map for your own learning/curiosity sake

Nice - i was actually wondering about that, also how the M2 was generating burbles that are not gunshots and compatible with a catalyzer.

1. Would the M2 map change the hp/tq values on the sport gauges in the same way that the MPPK tune would?

2. Can BM3 be loaded using OBDII without tripping the flash counter?

Quick question, does the M2 prevent the CEL from having a Catless Downpipe?

Cats are able to withstand non-gunshot type burbles. Of course nothing is forever but given the factory has feels ok to cover OEM burble setups for 50k miles I say its more than fine

No, its an OEM file but the end user adjustability screen will let you toggle it and reflash to turn it off.

How do I modify the map? I've uploaded it to My Maps but when I click on it there is no editor feature like I see when I click on my stock tune (which I have saved a copy of as Stock Tune Mod and have been using to play around with the editor).

I cannot wait for the obd unlock for bm3. Been holding off still using jb4 for a while now, but I'm ready for some change and with all the easy unlocking thru obd2 now, I'm ready! I know this question doesn't really pertain to this thread, but if I have mppk on my car, will there be a stock mppk map that I flash back to or does it flash to stock without. Mppk?

Look at post above you for actual results/times. I'd suspect Stage 0+ is probably close to OEM MPPK power wise.

STG 0+ in our case is the OEM M2 Calibration which is more than OEM MPPK but also less than OTS map

I ran it, it was bad ass!
Give it a try

Is it okay to flash Stage 0+ M2 on 2016 N55 435i wo any hardware upgrades? Which would be the best map to start with wo custom IC/downpipe/exhaust in 435i?

Does the M2 also have the chargepipe issue the other "lesser" N55s have? Also if I were to flash the car, I'd there a way to lock the dme after flashing stock for service and warranty reasons?

Not sure about the M2's charge pipe, but the Stage 0+ blew the stock charge pipe off my 435i pretty quickly.

When you flash back to stock you can choose to re-lock the DME or leave it unlocked. However, if they check the flash counter it will be detectable.

Finally pulled the trigger and bought a bootmod3 license with unlimited maps (extra $50). Knowing that I will be trying on several maps, created the helpdesk in the bootmod3 and asked if there is a flashing counter and/or if there is a limit to how many times different maps can be flashed.

The bootmod3 rep said there is no limit to how many times DME can be flashed and that there is no flasher counter that will tell how many times DME was flashed.

bootmod3 rep did confirm that the stock map can be reflashed and that DME can be relocked but also added that DME relocking or stock map reflashing does not prevent the dealer SA from detecting DME flashing even if stock map was reflashed. So DME re-locking or stock map flashing is appears rather useless a feature especially for warranty claims.

Now, with only 30K on my 435i and knowing this will likely get by VIN flagged, I am on the fence on whether I should go for it at all But again, the money on the bootmod3 license has been spent already... so...

The flash to stock and lock isn't necessarily useless. It's great because at first glance the car will appear to be stock. Only if the dealer does extensive digging will they find evidence of a flash tune. Either way, if you have a good report with your SA at BMW you shouldn't have any issues. My SA knows I'm FBO + tune and I get regular maintenance and warranty items covered with no issue.

bootmod3 rep in a helpdesk ticket I submitted told me that N55 should not be flashed with Stage 0+ as those are not quite compatible.

To my question on what map I should flash while still being on OEM without any upgrades, Stage 1 was recommended.

What do you mean charge pipe was blown off? Like physically blown off while driving? Can this happen on Stage 1 with 435i OEM equipment and if so what can be done to prevent this? Sorry about noob questions, still pretty new to the tuning world.

Thanks!

Thanks for your response. I guess YMMV as it comes to the service adviser. I have ready some post here presumable belonging to one of those service advisers. They guy claimed that they have no benefit in flagging VINs as they feed off warranty claims paid for by BMW and the more of those they have the better it is for the service center.

So I understand there is a chance that going FBO will not get a 100% of SA's all freak out and start running in circles shouting the vehicle is now ruined and will not be serviced because by exhaust, air intake, and/or chargepipe are not OEM.

I guess I will stop by at a couple of authorized BMW centers to check on those service advisers I had worked with and talk to them about the plan of going FBO to see how they will react.

Another option is going to a tuning center (bootmod3 customer rep provided me with a link to the one they trust here in Miami) and talk to the folks to see if they can give me a reference or a name of the SA they know who is flexible enough.
