Talking New to BMW: My F30 Imperial Bluety

Just bought my first BMW, F30 2012 335i Luxury Line with Imperial Blue/Saddle Brown, and I could not be more happy to join the club! The car is 100% stock at the moment, and I am thinking of picking up some 19" 5 series rims (351M style) later today as my first mod. Thankfully I am reassured by F30 post that these size wheels/tires (245/275) should bolt on fit with no problem (shouts out to @[fotios335i] and @[scott@bmwhn] for the guidance!). Also looking to sell my OEM 18" 20-spoke rims in the near future, so pm me if you are interested.

Purchased extended warranty and service up to 100K miles, and curious if anyone knows what mods will void those contracts for sure? (i.e. tunes, intake, exhaust, etc..). Sad thing is I don't think BMW will allow any mods under warranty, just trying to see what I can pull off lol.

Like many members have said, sorry for the iPhone 6 pics.. here she is:

Nothing will directly void your warranty. The understanding is that you can modify the car how you see fit within the range of what the dealership considers 'reasonable'. That will vary from one dealership to the next somewhat, but you could make the following mods and should be completely fine anywhere you go:

Aftermarket wheels
Non runflat rubber
Carbon fiber lip/spoiler, etc.
Tint
Spacers
M performance parts
Aftermarket exhaust
Etc.

As for a tune, I have limited experience, but it seems most dealerships are not going to care too much about that either. My dealer actually recommended I get a stage 1 for my lease when I took delivery, along with some forged wheels and carbon fiber bits. I'm getting the Dinan tune and some other stuff for the car in March.

Congrats, and enjoy the ride!

Congrats, that is indeed a beauty! I haven't done any modifications (and don't plan to) apart from tints and will switch to non-RFTs once these OEMs are done. So I can't help you there but I think what the poster wrote above is correct. All of those mods are rather benign.

Enjoy your new ride!

Nothing will void the warranty. They can refuse to warranty a specific part due to a modification, but they can not "void" the warranty. And any denial they will have to prove the modification caused the damage. That's not to say you won't have to bring a legal challenge if they dig in, and there are risks, but they will not be able to say the warranty on your electric window motor is null because you put a tune on the car.

Thank you for your prompt responses spuntyb, adhrp, and Thumper333! Thinking of also upgrading to either the M-Sport or Alcantara steering wheel, still unsure on the compatibility, as I don't have paddles to begin with..

Welcome, Congrats !!

Excellent color choice
Your wife (i assume) must be happy!
Seems like you are in SF area (NorCal)...

Dont worry about the tunes, as long as you are reasonable, and are not planning some crazy stuff, it should be ok.

For me, i kept things stock, will be lowering the car at the next opportunity.

Happy Motoring !

Btw, I love how the contours on the hood show so well on darker colors. Mine is a glacial silver and they aren't as apparent as your car.

Beautiful car and color!

Before you get a tune, drive your car for a bit and see if you really need it. The 335i is faster than most people give it credit for.

The M Sport steering wheel should be the first mod. It looks and feels great!
You can also add MPE for a great sound
