A Closer Look At The BC Racing F30 Coilover Suspension

Hi everyone,

We wanted to give you a more in-depth look at the BMW F30 coilover setup from BC Racing.

Their BR model is perfect for street driving and occasional road course duty. With easily accessible adjustment knobs for fine tuning your compression/rebound and separately adjustable ride height, having a performance coilover system couldn’t be any easier. You choose how low or high you want your vehicle - no preset ride height here - and the patented concave lower locking ring keeps it locked in. All of the BC systems come with top-quality mounts to provide the most feedback possible from your suspension and to sharpen your steering response. The included front camber plates also allow you to get the perfect alignment setup without compromise.

BC Racing camber plates are vehicle specific and engineered to be rigid superior replacements to the OE Top hats. These plates can reach 3 degrees of camber depending on the level of drop. Each lower mount is designed with the OEM in hand to ensure OEM like fit and exact tolerance specifications matching OE manufacturers. All this while providing a strong, attractive looking coilover system that won't break the bank!

You can start to see why we are fans of their products.

Features:
  • Now available for AWD (X-drive) models - requires a 3-4 week build time.
  • Mono-tube shock design
  • Full height adjustability through shock body, not spring
  • 30 levels of dampening adjustment (compression/rebound)
  • Front camber plates are included
  • Custom spring rates available upon request
  • 1 Year warranty against manufacturer defect
  • Completely rebuildable and individual parts are available separately for purchase

Enjoy the photos!

I-29 is the correct part number yes, and because the application list on their site is from 2013, it is NOT correct about the camber plates.

All F30 3 Series kits now ship with the front camber plates as shown above. These images were shot last week of a brand new kit.

BC Racing is local to us and we work with them on developing new kits for BMW.

When we tested the first F30 kit we could make the car actually ride HIGHER than stock. So minimum drop is whatever you'd like it to be that's lower than stock.

Maximum drop is basically undriveable. Unless you want to drive in a straight line and never turn. We made about a 30 point turn in our parking lot to get some photos of it. Any sort of turning of the wheel caused the tire to rub on the fender.

435

The same setup should fit my 435 no EDC? If yes, shoot me the price. What's the max lowering? Is it over 2' at least?

It is over 2.0" yes.

I am not 100% sure it'll work on a 435i (hasn't been tested yet by BC) - I should have test car fitted soon - I will keep everyone posted.

I have this setup on my f30 with the camber plates, custom rates though, 10k front and 14k rear.

What rates are the kits shipping out with now?

Good to know. 10k/14k where Im at currently seems to be the perfect balance for a light duty track setup.

I agree totally. - The stock BC setup is perfect for most owners who do not see the track.

Can this kit be installed on 2013 BMW F30 335i xDrive?

Can I maintain the same height - no lowering?

Yes it works on the xDrive models, and on the 2WD kits we have installed it will go higher than stock height.

If you have EDC, you would need a defeat module or custom coding.

Sean,

Thanks for confirming that the same, factory height can be maintained with this kit.

At stock height, are you looking for a stiffer ride?

Sean,

My vehicle does not have DHP (wish I ordered it).

I am looking for an improvement in the current "float" symptoms of my 2013 F30 335i xDrive without changing the suspension geometry, hence the goal of not changing the ride height. Not a stiffer ride but a slightly more controlled compression and rebound behavior that could be adjusted.

I live in Washington, DC area where the roads could be better (a lot better after this winter).

Definitely makes sense, I spend a lot of time in DC, and I always comment how rough the roads are and how they seem to get worse the more times I go.

They would definitely help with the adjustment factor you mention.

So will these return my car to factory like comfort and still keep it low, but get rid of the bouncy harsh feelings my H&R supersports give it?
