I've bought on basis of how much I am going to lose (and got a respectable discount and good trade in). There's no getting away from fact that even with 18% off an M3, it will lose a shed load more than an F30.

When it leaves me, I will have lost £18k in 3 years and 50k on my 335d. I reckon M3 will be close to double that.
As an example I got £18,000 off a new e92 M3 in Dec 2012 which listed at £63,000 and traded it in for £36,000 after 18 months and 38,000 miles.

Loads of deals around on the e92 M3 in 2012/13 (£499 per month leases as an example) but the residuals haven't been smashed to pieces IMHO, I got my first e92 for 39k back in 2008 and 8 years later decent examples are still holding 45-50% of that.

I've always found that M3's are viewed by the used trade as good news, whereas the M5 is seen as the ginger step child.

I'm hoping that it will be better than I have budgeted for but I am at least prepared and being realistic about it Neil. Doesn't help that I have specc'd mine up just a wee tad.

I understand that the M3 is taking around 25% of sales in the M3/M4 market compared to around 10% for E90 generation cars so maybe the market place is changing?

Mind you, unless it increases the overall market and not just cannibalising existing sales then maybe still not worth it. Doesn't stop them engineering other pretty small niches however, and ones that don't even make the most of BMWs strengths in comparison to how this might.
The US won't take it neither will China, Audi don't even try and sell the RS4/6 estate in the US hell they don't even sell any estate, because they can't sell them and Audi owns the fast estate market.

The M3 has flares and is popular for that reason we love a flare in the M world it's the best looking M saloon for years, however it's still out sold 4-1 by the M4 that tells you all you need to know about the typical M car buyer they want sporty not load lugging ability.

I've increased my millage allowance but as I read it it can be pulled at any time. For instance if they decide to withdraw it mid term you revert back to your original agreement so not really worth the paper it's written on. Unless you are nearing the end of an agreement with an over mileage car? Correct me if i'm wrong please.

It's a very sad case of chasing volume, doesn't matter what or how they sell them, it's the volume they are after (BMW AG)
This only for 6 cars, they're only doing 2 of each model at this price.

Lol calm down! yes they did, with a 5 series only. Tbh if I had been in the market at the time I would absolutely have had one.

There's a fair few on here would have an m3 touring, and if you take that as a percentage of members on here to percent of buyers out there I'm sure it would be worth their while.

It's a shame you have to go to Merc or Audi to get a super sporty estate.

I couldn't afford that just now. Wish I could

The 340i on order is stretching it. Once I've shifted my last chunk of debt excluding house it will be an m3 or a Porsche for me

Hope some of you gents get an order in

Fully aware they have made them in the past my point was they didn't sell very well.

The reverse would be true as regards extrapolating views on a motoring forum into the general public most of which wouldn't even know what an M car is, not sure I'd want to be presenting that rationale to their product development people.

It's not that I mind the idea, but its been done to death and the business cases/ideas put forward to support the production of another touring based car really do fly in the face of the market reality.

It's nothing more than a passing fancy (which is fine I have them all the time) but you can't expect BMW to build cars based on that and calling them out as "idiots" as one poster did is a nonsense, they know the market.

Well I would certainly buy an m3 touring! My current road map assuming circumstances and finances allow is 340 for 3 years then an M5. However the new g series will be out by then and assuming the 340 gets a bit of a power increase that might be an option?
I think we will see an m340 f31 and the 360bhp tune of the b58 will be standard on g series.

Very good deal, however I'm not interested in the competition package personally. I would like to have without that . How much does that package worth ?

Can TRL give such a good deal on M5 as well ? Which dealership he works at ?

We all know that but no harm hoping. Audi and Merc have no issues shifting RS4/6's, AMG's so that's the business case right there.
