More than £1.8m paid by council to a pothole claimant

Somerset County Council paid £1,836,000 to a claimant for damages caused by a "pothole defect".

Does anybody know who this is?

Seems absurd that one claimant can get so much.

Must have caused an accident and (serious) related injuries for which those involved were compensated, I'd guess

I need whoever dealt with this claim on my side - I?ve tried twice to claim for pothole damage (tyre bulges x2 and badly damaged rim x1) on the shite roads around Rochdale and both times been turned down as either the pothole was within acceptable limits or was repaired in an acceptable timescale. The crappy state of the roads (and crappy run flats) have cost me nearly £600.

Surely it wasn't just one claimaint but an accumulation of claims totalling £1.8m

nope...one claim, total claims was 2.1 million, of which 1.8m was to one person.
