BMW Software Update

There is a link displayed on my head unit to update the software using USB.

The link is www.bmw.com/update.

For me, the above link redirects to https://www.bmw.com/content/bmw/mark...e-updates.html.

When I enter my VIN, I get this message:

Quote:
Unfortunately, the entered Vehicle Identification Number you entered cannot be found. Please check your entry. If the problem persists, please contact the support.
No way is provided to contact "the support".

The production date of my vehicle was May 5, 2018. I would expect to be able to download the existing version of software, not a vague error such as I'm getting. Is the above error normal?

BMW on rare occasion releases a new Bluetooth update through the site you linked to. Your car is way too new to have any software updates available. In all likelihood you'll never see an update for your car on this site. To receive full software updates requires the dealer to upgrade your iStep version which includes reflashing all modules in your car. And these iStep updates are released throughout the year with the larger updates coming in July, November and March of each model year.

Thank you for the reply. I will give the dealership a call and ask about updates.

Yup, got back from BMW and it's dead.

"Thanks for contacting the BMW Genius Team. We appreciate your inquiry.

Our apologies for the inconvenience as the software update site (www.bmw.com/update) is currently down and not accepting VIN's. We are aware of the issue and are currently working to get the function restored. "

Guys I'm very new with this. I have a 2014 F30. Does this update improve the Bluetooth functionality and possibly play text message chimes while connected via Bluetooth using my iPhone ? Thanks in advance

What year is your 340? I had the same issue with my 2016.

That's interesting, I'm guessing the update is for non Evo units.

I just looked up my vin on the BMW update site. I have a 2018 440 GC. My current versions of my software are TB 005..., MB 005..., HMI 006 ...

I just looked up my vin and it says the latest version for my car is TB 001.063.040 & MB 001.062.040 & HB 001.062.032. The file is bin 9041.

Is it possibly correct to go from 005 to 001?

No it's not. If you try to update the software, you'll get a message that your car has a more recent software than the one you're trying to install. I had this happen to me in the past with a 2018 740L.

Interesting, now the new site using the 17 digit VIN number says my iDrive is up to date.
