Had my second replacement windshield put on in less than a year. Fortunately, Pilkington glass for our cars seems to have gone down in price since the last time I got it done, probably due to G20 generation being out now.

Had the glass guy install the new windshield cowl I ordered while he was at it.

I was so impressed, I opted to take the efforts to upload the video to youtube (a first) and embed it here. I hope that works... In case a backup link will be provided.

In summary. What I did today was take off four lug bolts minus the lock and put them back on in less than 40 seconds on my F036. Super impressed.
Then torqued to 104 ft-lbs which in auto mode on the impact wrench (stops when the hammer engages) was a small turn on the torque wrench till that satisfying "click".

Nice! I have similar sized Dewalt 3/8" impact driver so I know the feeling

why did you need to replace your windshield? actual damage? or pitting.. I remember reading somewhere that our BMW's windshield pits farely easy, and rn I'm not sure if my windshield is pitted, or if in can be cleaned off with a razor or strong glass cleaner..

Broken, both times. Impacts from random unknown airborne objects while driving. First time, the original windshield was very pitted after 123k miles. Second one lasted all of about 10k miles before suffering a similar fate.

you should....looks so much better now.

takes like 30 minutes from start to finish

just start with a light coat to let it grab the emblem, then just do several light coats allowing it to dry between coats....let dry then peel off, use a tooth pick to get to the hard to get spots

Added BMW rubber floor mats to the 340 to keep the dust/dirt under control since I use it to haul my mountain bike around.

And never offered in the U.S. - because stupid Americans refuse to buy cloth seats. We also don't like wagons. I'd gladly swap all of my cars for a 6-cyl F31 with that interior.

Not American but would still never buy a car that looks like a stuffed animal toy from the inside.
Bottom-line - a matter of taste.

Really stupid, I was speechless when realized this... Functionally, it is by far the best interior and we get it as standard with M Sport package.

On the other hand, there is no way of catless downpipes and such mods for us, as emissions is the European religion

Not American either but live in the US. Agree everyone have their own tastes. Manners are free though. You do not need to be antagonistic with everything you do not like.

Maybe he is American after all, we tend to be antagonistic and ill-mannered.

I would take the cloth seats if I could. Leather is a pain. Anyways.

Agreed. If I could find someone with the alcantara/hex cloth seats that wants to swap for my dakota leather, I'd be happy to!

Lighter weight, better grip, better breathability, less maintenance...all wins in my book!

And your ass imprint always on the seat.
Plus actually higher maintenance and lower durability. Not even mentioning the looks, as that's a matter of taste.

Having grown up with cloth seats, they aren’t all that and a bag of chips. Even when made with fake suede. I like the low maintenance of leather.
To each their own however.

Back on topic, I washed mine because I had to drive on the rain yesterday.

Never mix textile seats with Alcantara...

I actually think textile seats are the best compromise and most practical! Would always prefer textile instead of Dakota leather.

But Alcantara is something else. Horrible in every possible way, starting with the looks. Just my 2 cents.
