Interesting...is that in Comfort or Sport? Would you be able to post more clips in different modes (and cold start vs warm)? Any 'before' clips would also be useful. Can it be changed back to stock by the way?

I'll be in a 440i with OPF soon so looking at options.

This was in sport mode. However, it was a warm (just finished 2hr motorway drive). I'll take a few more videos this week and post them.

I forgot to answer your other question. I suspect the only way to change it back to stock is to replace the modified exhaust system with a new BMW exhaust system.

£280 + travel seems a good deal. I've been looking at a Remus rear box from Motech which is £820 before fitting. What I need to know is the difference it makes it to PPF cars. They've got lots of examples of pre July 18 cars but nothing recent.

Apparently it works fine with the OPF, as in no warning lights. They had videos of a 340i & m140i with OPF and the Remus back box only.

It doesn't sound as good as the full cat-back exhaust but better than stock anyway. The problem with the back-box only solution is that the stock exhaust needs cutting. Something to be aware of if you have a need to put the car back to stock. There are loads of rumours of OPF compatible exhausts coming out in the New Year from different manufactures...we shall see.

The PCW option is definitely good value, but personally I find the exhaust note a bit artificial. I might be wrong though and that's why asked for more videos in different scenarios. Again, putting back to stock will be costly, if that is an issue

One I saw must've been yours then Black 340i?

What are your impressions so far in different modes and all that? And what about the cutting the stock exhaust bit to get it fitted? Presumably you won't need to worry about putting it back to stock? I'm also thinking warranty is pretty much void?

Morning - New to Bimmerpost - and have been searching and reading about the exhaust system for the F36 - my 440i GC was delivered new, mid November 2018 and believe that the MPPSK has now been outlawed and can't be fitted. Is that correct..?

Yes, that's correct, for post-July 2018 builds that come with a new petrol particulate filter. You can still fit the kit to pre-July builds.

If you needed a new silencer from BMW for whatever reason it would be fitted in exactly the same way, they always come in sections. They only fit a one-piece exhaust at the factory. Refitting the stock exhaust only requires a sleeve, it's not an issue, or expensive.

Yes, I guess that was the point I was trying to make. Once you cut it, even if you put it back to stock, it would still be cut and therefore may come with warranty issues, given that it comes in one piece from the factory.

I may be overly paranoid about it and in reality it's a non-issue. I am trying to find out

Presumably a full cat back system is more of a plug & play affair without any cutting and therefore you could put it back to exactly how it came out of the factory?

As I thought - appreciate the confirmation. As a result - wondering what options I have is there actually an alternative to the MPPSK for sound and HP…? Or am I currently limited to changing the rear back box to something like a Remus..?

I think it has been confirmed now there won't be an official OPF compatible MPPSK from BMW. So the current options are either back-box only, the PCW mod, or wait a bit more and see what the aftermarket manufacturers come up with.

Just seen it on Instagram. Looks and sounds sweet. If you're willing to share, how much did they charge for fitting?

I had it fitted from new so Didn’t really get a chance to compare stock to the new one bar 10 miles, but it is certainly deeper and louder tone, but no pops and crackles as the previous variant had in sports. This has been coded out on the new OPF models unfortunately. The new box also looks much nicer.

I went for the carbon tops, so cost a bit more, but only £50 fitting and only takes an hour or so.

Regards warranty, I spoke to my dealer pre fitting as I have a good relationship with them and they basically said it wouldn’t affect the warranty apart from the exhaust part, as the rear box has next to no effect on the cars workings so to speak. I felt relatively comfortable following this chat to proceed without affecting the warranty greatly.

It's not a warranty issue as this is BMW's standard procedure for replacing a silencer. I don't think you can even order a one-piece exhaust as they are next to impossible to transport.
