It depends on you bro if you really want to get the most out of your car Id say yes id either get a custom tune from Cary jordan or halim himself from bootmod3 if you dont have bm3 I believe Bimmer performance center does custom tunes as well their good but ive had bad to little no communication for a revision on a tune they provided for me lol. I say yes though lol

Depends on what you're going for. For bolt-on stuff, like a downpipe and intercooler, there's really no need, OTS maps are fine. I'd say a custom tune is really only worth it if you upgrade the turbo.

I agree with custom tunes only if you're going to upgrade the turbo.

I have the $350 Dinan tune. Most of the time I just have it in stock tune but when you want to use the app on the phone and put into full race mode it will light the 40 series tires on the back up! It is a 6 speed manual so I can load it up a little before I fully dump it.

Have efficient logs and submit a ticket. I went through about 5 revisions on my tune until we got my car dialed in. It’s a very time consuming process. Flash, test, log, submit, tune. Repeat...

Like fate_f30 said he will dial it in no problem. You could also talk him into getting like a E40 or e30 tune their should be a e30 tune soon coming up for the n20 pwg L since he and I have been testing it out alot its smooth as hell I can tell you that lol. f32 hunter was custom tuned by Halim with methanol and e60 tune by Halim so yeah lol but like I said it depends on how far you plan to go with the build etc...

What’s the HP you’re creating with e30 and meth? Isn’t 300hp the “danger zone” on the n20/6?

My car is flash tuned; puts out 250hp at the wheels/317tq from the N26. Been driving it like this for about 15K miles or so now I think. No issues. It's a mild tune-nothing crazy but it'll go....

The N2x can hold 300whp no problem, that's about what a standard BM3 stage 2 setup will net you: 300whp 330wtq or thereabouts. Dunno cuz no one has dynoed but it's in that region. 350whp/tq is where you start pushing the limits of the internals.

I’m planning on dynoing mine soon. Too be honest I don’t think it’s 300 even at Stage 2 bm3 but I maybe surprised. Only way to know is get it on the Dyno.

Could definitely be optimistic, but we wouldn't know! Would be cool if you could get on a dyno, start a thread if you do. I may be having springs installed at a bimmer shop with an AWD dyno, might fork over an extra $100 for a dyno session while I'm there...

There’s an awd Dyno near my house but the guy is major strict and has a little bit of an attitude so it’s a bit intimidating to go.

That's a bummer. Not a great way for him to get people on his dyno... We'll see about the shop I'm considering for my springs whenever they email me back. Depends on what they quote me to install the springs, when I can get there etc. but if the stars align I'll try to get on the dyno for sure

Would you please share what your total out of pocket cost was IN ADDITION to the original Bootmod3 license?

That's about the price I'm looking to get it done at too, thanks for the reference. I got a quote from one shop (high end euro shop, BMW Audi Porsche etc. so I knew they'd be expensive) and it was $1175 for parts and labor, no thanks! Still looking around but hopefully I'll get it done before Christmas. After that is trans fluid change and I'll be happy for another couple thousand miles

I've gone through a similar process with BM3, getting the tune dialed in with Halim after sending and having reviewed multiple logs etc. Only thing I ever payed for was the original license. All the test maps they send you if you have issues and the customer support, log reviewing, creating custom test maps etc. is free.
