Some old guy reviews a car who clearly is not a car expert based on his test drive and analysis and so many of you respond to his comments

while this review sucked, the man had a good point about options. some things should be standard. rear view camera and heated seats at least. when you are in the $40K + price range that should be a given

and sub compact? this car has more rear leg room than my previous 550i! it's definitely no sub compact. but he is right, the I6 is where it's at!

Rear view camera is standard equipment soon because it is required by law from 2018.

you're right. but as of 2015 a rear view camera is not standard on a M3/M4 or even a $50K 5 series. that's disgraceful

Granted the twin turbo 6 in the 435i is more powerful than the twin turbo 4 in the 428i, but the 428i's torque band and acceleration are more than worthy of the "The Ultimate Driving Machine" tagline, contrary to what Matt the so-called "auto expert" sneeringly asserted. Not so long ago (mid-1990s), a 0-60 mph time of 5.3 seconds was par for the course for a Porsche 911 Carrera or an Acura NSX.

neither the 6 or the 4 cylinder engines are twin turbos. both are twin-scroll turbos. but yes, i agree both put up great times, but the I6 is smoother, faster, and quicker.

My point was that the reviewer was completely off-base in dismissing the 428i Coupe as unworthy of "The Ultimate Driving Machine" moniker simply because it has a 4-cylinder engine—and without even putting the car through its paces on the open road! BMW also happens to make engines that are faster, smoother, and quicker than the N55, but that doesn't make the 435i Coupe any less worthy of the "The Ultimate Driving Machine" tagline.

P.S. Having now driven a 428i Coupe with 6MT for the past month, I can attest that the engine and transmission are pretty darn smooth. And plenty fast!
