To give a update, my dealer pulled the MPPK airbox and put a new stock one in, and I haven't been able to reproduce it yet. As of now, we're still waiting on the software update thats supposedly due out soon. Once thats out, we'll update and replace the airbox w/ the MPPK one.

Seems janky as h*ll, but I guess thats the way the cookie crumbles.
This is stupid.
Mine popped on during a slow traffic crawl in ECO-PRO. I just called dealer and they said filter isn't due for repalcement until another 9k miles, so it has to be the box. I think I threw out my original air box, so will wait for the fix.

It's impacted my sport mode though tremendously, misfires on partial throttle all the time. AND I have a HPDE in 2 weeks, which means I'll be driving in Comfort mode/DS, not as crisp, but I guess will have to do. Very annoyed...

Have you thought of doing the Dinan, to copy over the MPPK?
I'm considering this as a short term (and $) solution if it is indeed programming...

TBH, if I'm going to spend any money at all on this car, its probably going to be an attempt at getting rid of the floaty, disconnected feeling the horrible xDrive msport suspension gives me... Only problem is I live in MN, so dropping a whole lot isn't really all that practical.
My dealer actually bought and shipped a new airbox from Germany as a temporary fix (my MPPK was port installed though, so I never had a stock airbox).

Get Dinan Shockware and springs (+ bump stops), it eliminates the floaty suspension and tighetns up the steering. 2 excellent mods, and reasonable.

No DHP Was a total noob when ordering this car, and dhp seemed like a sales tactic by my slick-talking sales person... But, I guess I haven't ruled out the Dinan springs though.

Any updates from your dealer on the patch?

Still waiting on word back from my dealer. I put a call in today to see if I could get a status update. I'll be sure to update when I hear anything.

Many thanks!
I'm getting it now pretty much every week. And the idle has gotten nutty.

I don't know if you tried this, but I took out and cleaned the MAF in case that was the issue, helped a little, but code still pops back up on differing loads.

For me, as an auto, it's odd to replicate since the DME is selecting the gear (unlike your situation).

Wow that is really strange.... Your issue may certainly be the same as mine, but they were pretty clear when they told me that this was specific to 6 speed 335's with the MPPK. Who knows though, I'm not sure I trust a whole lot that my dealer says. What has your dealer said when you take it in (assuming you've done this already)?

I haven't, mainly because I have an aftermarket IC and chargepipe (no leaks).

I figured I was getting the Dinan S2 eventually anyhow, so I'll take it in for an install once a PPK update is out for the full DME rewrite!

Got word back from my dealer tonight, the update is out and my car has an appointment for this Friday to get the intake re-installed and the software updated.

I'll keep this updated with any news.

I wouldn't either. A CEL is something that significantly diminishes the value of the car - who buys a car with a CEL potential time-bomb? I would be all over them with the Lemon Law rulebook too.

Trust me, if this software update doesn't fix the issues, I'll be committing 100% of my spare time to getting it lemoned.

In case anybody is interested, I had a local BMW shop forward me the TSB that has been released regarding this. Here is some more information:

Subject
N55 and NPOW: DME Fault 102001, Air Mass Too High, Sets in ECO PRO Mode

MODEL
F30 (3 Series Sedan)
F32 (4 Series Coupe)
F33 (4 Series Convertible)
F34 (3 Series Gran Turismo)
Produced from 7/1/2013 to 2/28/2015
With the N55 engine and BMW M Performance Power Kit

SITUATION
The Service Engine Soon light (MIL) comes on while driving at moderate to highway speeds in ECO PRO with the “Coasting” feature selection active.
Fault 102001: Air mass, plausibility: Air mass too high is stored in the DME

CAUSE
BMW Power Kit DME software

I had the same exact issue and went with the Dinan x drive coils and bump stops. Big improvement and the lower carter of gravity makes the car corner much better too. Car came down 1" front and back and the tire/fender clearance looks good with the M Sport wheels. Not too low.

Awesome, that's good to know. The Dinan dealer quoted me $1675 after springs, bump stops, install, and alignment, and that's a lot of dough - it better be worth it for that amount.

Beyond the issues of throwing the code, I would have double shifts because the MAF was buggy, and of course the constant codes.

Was corrected today in a PUMA session, all issues pertaining to this problem gone...I'll take a picture of the SIB # for everyone.
F'in hate that 102001 Code!

Seems like BMW skimped a bit on the QA process. Still mind boggling how this scenario ever existed in the first place. On the bright side, I haven't had a CEL since the software update
