Mann's oil filter on BMW 428i

Anyone knows the difference between HU816X and HU816Z kit?
which one to use on 2014 BMW 428i xdrive?
Some online shop says HU816X can be used on 428i however Mann's online catalog says differently.
However, they do share the same dimension and so. Very confused, anyone has any insights?

The X includes a new washer to be used with the metal drain plug on a metal oil pan. The Z includes a new plastic drain plug to be used with a plastic oil pan. My N20 xDrive has a metal pan, so I use the 816X. I believe yours does as well.

HU816X is for xdrive (includes washer for metal oil drain plug) .

HU816Z is for RWD (plastic oil drain plug) .

Not doubting either of you... I have a RWD...

But why does Mann's official catalouge recommend the wrong part for his car (according to you guys).

Isnt that a bit scary?

Something must be off, no?

they're both the same filter, the only difference is in the drain plug. If he has a metal drain plug he needs to get HU816X if he has a plastic drain plug he needs to get HU816Z. it's weird that Mann catalog recommends HU816Z because he probably has a metal drain plug

I did some more diggings and I agree with you. I think the Mann's catalog is wrong. All the xdrive use metal drain plug.
