Plain weave cf center console

Had a friend start this for me around 2-3 years ago, I had to take what I thought was an indefinite break from carbon fiber skinning due to health issues with epoxy. As you may have seen on my other posts though I found a way around this and returned to making cf pieces.

He kindly laid the fabric and got the epoxy built up for me to do a final sand, then I was able to satin lacquer the entire thing, paint the inside of the arm rest and trim the edging in alcantara.

The iDrive controller trim and handbrake gator still need to be re-done as they trimmed in 9002, where as the rest of the car uses 9040.. there's only a subtle difference in shade but I think it's throwing off the linking trims. I may also ditch the red stitching on these as I'm not sure if it's a bit ott.

Frustratingly I had to refit the center console 4 times due to wire routing, I kept spotting errors after it was bolted down such as wires that needed feeding through different ducts in the process I must have trapped a wire which partially blew 2 fuses, I say partially as they were all fine when I metered them so I stripped everything apart again; couldn't find a fault and then finally found the problematic fuses after lifting every single one out and vigorously testing them.. oh and in the pouring rain

Oh I also added a layer of ceramic coating a week after letting the lacquer cure at an elevated temperature. It doesn't really add any gloss it just helps the cf pop a little more, the matifier I used in my lacquer had really sapped the darkness.

Here's a 50/50 of it and then a fully coated part.
