Another 2012 328i (N20 Engine) Dyno Hits 240hp / 257 lb-ft at the Wheels!
BIMMERPOST NEWS Another 2012 328i (N20 Engine) Dyno Hits 240hp / 257 lb-ft at the Wheels! Insideline recently strapped the 2012 328i with its turbo 4 cylinder N20 engine on the dyno and achieved even higher at-the-wheel power than the EAS Dyno we reported on recently. On 91 octane and a dynojet, this F30 328i achieved 240hp / 257 lb-ft torque at the wheels Assuming a 16% drivetrain loss for the sake of argument, this would equal approximately 286hp / 306 lb-ft torque at the crank. Compare this to the F30 328i's factory rating of 240hp / 255lb-ft torque at the crank. The 328i could be underrated by as much as 46 hp and 51 lb-ft torque. Impressive indeed! Compare this to the EAS dyno which achieved 226hp / 230lb-ft torque at the wheels. |

Not only is the HP rating and mpg rating inpressive separately, but when you put the two together and see the mpg you get with power - it's incredible.. Almost no point in getting the 335i...?!
Problem is it's probably tuned to the max potential without a lot of upgrades (if you're a tuner). |

Poor EAS 328i lol...that owner is probably kicking himself as he knows he got one of the slower ones from the manufacturer lol...
But these numbers are great for such a small engine. Would be awesome of they had more of a growl and a twin exhaust set-up. The single and lil 4cyl whine is sooo weak :s One of the biggest reasons I got a 335 instead |

I would trust the results from the EAS dyno, more than the ones from Insideline personally.
Regardless, this motor kicks ass. Can't wait to see more done with it! |

Wow. Seriously impressive. Another great engine from BMW. I just looked at the new 3 series in person and it is much better than pictures. The design looks so aggressive. Another winner.

232 WHP or so looks like a fair average... either way it needs an agressive tune with a catless downpipe. It could dyno close to 300 afterwards which would be nice.

That looks like MD automotive. Thy have a dynojet. I'm guessing both cars read similar. The main difference is in dyno. To make a fair comparison you would compare the same car on different dyno to rule out differences.
