As a new buyer after reading all the threads here I was so afraid of getting a car with any or all the problems I've been reading on the forum.

IMO I don't think a lot of cars would be affected and as new buyers we only focus on the problems we read...

This poll should help new buyers see what % of forum members really did have problems with their F30..

FYI:

The first thing I did when I got my F30 was update the software on it...
you can download and do it from the link below using your VIN.

Once downloaded put in on a USB drive, plug the USB Drive in the centre armrest and then go to system update and you should be able to update it no problem...

I guess I am the only one with 3+ problems. It has only been one month since I bought the car, and;

1. The wiper are malfunctioning. They said they will change the control unit.
2. iDrive resets from time to time. This is perhaps (and hopefully) related to problem 1.
3. My MP3 CDs are not recognized from time to time. Actually they are far less recognized than unrecognized.

Hopefully these will be my last problems. :-(

that sucks.. They might all be linked.. some electrical crap..
The CD mp3 thing might just need a software update.. hopefully it comes out soon.. I haven't played any mp3 CDs yet.. iPhone or Hard Drive mostly..

I am not sure about the Mp3 CD will be resolved by a SW update. The drive gets in my CD and then tries to read the format, ends up with an unrecognized format message after a minute or so. I eject the CD and insert it back. 1 out of 10 times, it reads and somehow recognizes the format. It plays the songs flawlessly until I stop the car. When I come back, it says unrecognized format. I will still hope that this is a SW issue (yet I doubt it would be). Now I am listening to music through a flash drive.

Hey Puri,

So for me to connect my iPod/iPhone to the car, all I need is the Y Cable? And then I can listen to all my music, etc...

Anything else you'd suggest?

Yea bro.. all you need is the Y cable..
It plays all the songs,playlists,etc.

I wish I had bought the extended bluetooth with apps now.. The $1100 would've been worth it. Its a pain in the butt to connect my iPhone all the time cause I keep forgetting it in there..

So you'd recommend spending that extra $1100 and getting apps and assist?

Let's say I don't get the packages, will I still have the standard bluetooth to answer and make calls from my iPhone?

Yes, you still get Bluetooth for making and receiving calls. The enhanced Bluetooth lets you stream music wirelessly, as well as connect multiple phones for telephone use at the same time.

Please spend at least the $650 for the BMW assist with enhance BT/USB

Here is what u get:

no Y cable needed just use the regular apple usb cable
album artwork displays on iDrive display
stream audio over BT
lower insurance rate
My BMW remote (see screen shots)
4 years of BMW assist service

Also, please don't get it for the iPhone Remote App.. Its such BS... I checked it out on a friends bimmer and its useless.. you god damn know where you parked you car, you don't f'in need google maps to tell you..lol
and the horn, unlock stuff will excite you for only the first 5 mins you use it..

By the way, did you pick up your car after the dealer washed it? I've heard several people saying not to have the dealer wash your car and to set an appointment with an external car detailing shop? Any suggestions?
