BMW rust warranty is for rust perforation of the vehicle body only. I'm not sure if seat is technically covered.
From BMW USA website: "Rust protection for 2006 and newer models. For 2006 and newer models, we also provide a 12-year limited warranty rust perforation warranty without mileage limitation. This warranty is for defects in materials or workmanship that results in rust perforation of the vehicle body. This coverage period begins at the start of the New Vehicle/SAV Limited Warranty." I don't think that is rust. I am not sure, but it looks like that kind of material that is usually put inside the doors and under the vehicle as anticorosive. Or some kind of glue. It doesn't look like rust to me.
_____________________ Also, BMW offers12 years warranty on body rust. I don't know about the seat, but like other are mentioning in here, you will not destroy the car for that. Cultural thing? C'mmon man, it is character thing. I would really like to see what the guy is thinking after destroying his own bimmer. He should buy a Toyota. I had one for 3 years and after first winter was already rusted under... |

If you drive a BMW in Korea you're a baller. Salaries are parity to the US (ie an accountant making $100k here is about the same there), but the cars are 3x-4x more expensive.
I'm sure that guy can easily afford another BMW without even blinking twice.

I feel the owner's frustration. Makes me wanna do the same to my 2012 X5d. BMW lost their build quality for good.

Their culture is very peculiar... They do care about brand image... And once they see what BMW is really about, they will stop buying those products... Just like me, I love BMW, but unfortunately, I have had more issues with my past three BMW in 2 years... Will definitely not buy another one. It sucks, because I do indeed love BMW.... It's just service department sucks balls!!!

Sad. Very Sad.
My title says it all, but to elaborate, it's disappointing that a premium automobile such as a BMW would have issues like these. On my 328Ci, there were plenty of these little annoyances, such as the door sill trim falling apart in hot, humid weather or the laminating over the wood grain cracking and spider-webbing. Just a bit ridiculous for what was a $46,000 car when new. Now I'm learning that my new, beautiful M-Sport that I haven't even seen yet and that I've been looking forward to driving when I got home from deployment may already have rusty seat bottoms from inferior parts. Not right at all. It makes me wonder where else BMW has skimped to keep costs down...

proof that grown men can act like little girls.
you would literally have to lift the seat up, move it forward and get under there with a flashlight to see this "surface rust" that poses no problem to the integrity of the seat. almost all cars are like this. i cant believe this is really an issue

Wow, that's extreme....
This thread made me get right up and check my seats. No rust, no dust! My F30 (so far) has been the best car I've ever owned. I hope that continues. |
