Any F30/G30 owners...I'm thinking about an M550

Do any of you F30 owners have experience with the G30? Is it noticeably larger? What about the handling as compared to the F30?

I'm considering upgrading from my 340iX to an M550i. Reason? More power, quicker acceleration. Hopefully similar handling.

do it, but with options it be around 80k. if you dont care about options then you can add 20k more and get a no optioned M5.

M550 is a completely different vehicle with a different price point. Test drive it, experience it ... make a decision.

It is a bigger car. I bet you could get a good deal on a well equipped M3 for upgrades in all departments.

I drove a G30 540 and it feels significancy larger than my 340i which definitely makes it feel less nimble. It's going to be more at home in straights than it is in curves. That being said it does handle well for a large car

Thanks for the comparison. I thought the new M3 was going to be AWD, but probably not now.

Ahhh, I believe the m340i will be AWD with 380hp. May be a worthy candidate

Hmmm, I wasn't aware of this one. I'd better hold off, thanks for the info.

Yes it has created quite a bit commotion. The M340i is rumored to be 8speed auto and AWD only. So sounds like it could be tailor made for you

I've only driven a 530i. It felt big, boring, soft, slow, but it had a decent interior. I wasn't impressed with the aesthetics, I never once did the "look back" after parking it. The M550i is a different animal, but still not a full fledged M car. It's just a faster 5 series with M Performance Parts. It's doesn't have that extra special sauce that makes an true M car. I would say the same thing about the upcoming M340i. Let's not forget, the M340i is just replacing the current 340i as the top of the line 3 series. The M in front of a 3 digit bmw is just a marketing tool at this point. It's still not an M car. If you are in the M550i price range, you can get a decently equipped F80 M3 or M4 for around $80k and it will still be much more nimble and quicker where it counts than an M550i. It will be a "true" M car. Depends on what you are looking for I guess.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not looking for a true M car, I want more power but still AWD for handling. The M550i is quicker than current production M cars, but the extra weight with the M550i (or even M5) could affect handling.

Mike Renner from BMW's Performance Center was here two weeks ago driving the new M5 around Summit Point's main track full balls out & it doesn't have a handling problem! Maybe more driver experience is needed.

The latest rumors say it will be RWD or AWD. Unfortunately it's all but confirmed that the transmission is Auto only.

Well rwd is good for me but for OP who wants AWD it doesn't really matter
