Blue 340i 6MT Gone.

Hello, super bummed. I had found a really cool certified 2016 340i Xdrive 6MT, adaptive M suspension, M sport brakes, dark blue with light interior. Honestly, the color combo was meant for me. And all the sport options. 10,500 miles.

I test drove it...was perfect. Now, I'm not really ready to buy...I'll be ready like November-March ish, so buying now is a little stretching it...have to finance longer term at like a ridiculous rate (even with top tier credit).

But I'm always scrolling through cars.com looking and browsing, and I had to drive this one. I fell in love.

Anyway, I did a low bid, I Kelly blue booked the trade in value, and bid that. No response from the dealer. A day later car was sold.

I guess I under estimated how fast these manual transmission cars would go. Now, looking, there isn't a better one in the country. The whole country.

Anyway, how often do you guys think a cherry like this comes up?

"Bid"

That was your first mistake.

10,500 miles on a 2016 was what made this go quickly, not a 6MT.

Some advice is don't look for cars you aren't ready to buy otherwise stuff like this happens. Sorry you lost the car but by not looking until you are ready will save your feelings

It took me 6 months to find the same car. The mt is quite rare especially with awd. I think it's like 1% of the f30. Really I kinda wish I would have just gotten rwd, most days it is just a bit much. For sure in the summer..

After a while the perfect grey one appeared on auto trader .. loaded .. it was about 4 hours away, I was going to get it. Yes. I called and was told that someone was there right now doing the paper work. 24 hours .. gone.

About 2 months later a slightly less equipped black one appeared .. low miles but 6 hours away. I called and talked about it, then later that day called in a deposit. I booked a one way flight for later in the week, and drove it home sight unseen. Fortunately everything worked out, I was worried they were going to skew the numbers once I was at the table as they are known to do. The car was too new to have much wrong with it but I got lucky there too.

Actually the gray one had more options but I am better off with out them, this is exactly how I'd have specd it, just maybe a different color but black is ok.

Keep looking they do exist .. unless you live in the arctic consider rwd.

Most F30s North of the Mason Dixon line are usually AWD.

I flew out to Maryland to pick up my car. Now I've been looking for a loaded '17 or '18 in silver or metallic white.

Keep looking

If you are short on money would Copart be an alternative? You might find the right car and can spend your money in trems.

Very few are going to have the means of buying a salvage car and repairing it.

Not to mention the issue of selling it in the future.

Not sure how you can assume that. There are usually a good selection of low mileage BMWs in my area (SoCal). Not sure how it is in NJ, but I figure they're a fairly large market. Manuals on the other hand are getting harder and harder to find. I feel that the G20's lack of a manual has led manual enthusiasts to buy up all the lightly-used F30 6MT cars.

A person, driving a mustang might be handy enough for such a project

I can't understand this fixation on reselling the car. This is the reason why here in Germany 95% of the cars are silver.
I buy a car in the color I like and not in the color which might be liked by others just because I'm scared I will not find a buyer.

We don't know th OP's intentions. I drive an E36, built 97 and not just because I coulnd't resell it.

Not assuming. Fact.

None exists...regardless of trim or transmission.

Used 500 miles radius of San Francisco Airport to cover all of California.

Also used 15k miles Top....not 10k.

BIG difference in car painted Silver for resale and car title being Salvage/Totaled for resale.

With the obsession on Carfax in USA, people will not buy car with a $300 tap on the bumper, much less a car that was totaled and listed as Salvage on title and Carfax.

If buyer wanted to rebuild Salvaged Car, he wouldn't be looking for low miles cars from Dealer.

^yeah, you can't compare color preference to salvage title. I may have top 3 color choices and settle for any, but no way I'm cross shopping salvage titles with accident free cars.

Even the CPOs I've been looking at, many of them have minor damages. Yeah, I'm not touching those.

There's this one at least 31k miles, clean Carfax, one owner. If one could live without the drivers assistance pkg then this would be a good buy. Its not a CPO car though and I know some are obsessed with having a CPO car.

The manuals go quickly if they are priced right. Many are not. I've lost out on a couple myself. The last one I lost the dealer told me about one at a BMW sale. He shared the details and then won the auction. Waiting for it do be delivered to the dealer and be CPO'd. Hope it checks out!

I have an absolute loaded M package everything premium black on black 6MT and will be doing a lease take over or buy out and sell one year after they release the new M3 so keep watching for it. I only put on about 6k miles a year so it will be one of those 'good ones' you refer to although I know that really doesn't help you in the short term...

Damn that would've been a dream for me! Have the exact same car I purchases CPO but had to settle for the auto due to not being able to find a manual with the same specs at the time. I love the car nonetheless but there are times I wish I would've waited for a manual to pop up.

A little side story....When I was searching for my F30 I found one in Jacksonville FL with the options I wanted (6MT, RWD, M pkg etc). I had set up a search notification that would alert me whenever another F30 was added nationwide. I got pinged at 6pm, bought a ticket from Miami to Jax next day on the first flight, got there at about 7:30 ish and was in line at the rental counter at about 8 am when I called the dealership to let them know i was a serious buyer on the way (dealership opened at 8am) The salesperson I talked to told me that a guy was there waiting for them when they showed up that morning and was buying the damn thing as we spoke. The car was traded in the previous afternoon, the dealership didn't even get to vacuum it....They transferred the title and sold the car less than 24 hours later...asking price was 34,900. When I found my current F30 in Charlotte NC I actually had to put down a (refundable) deposit on the phone, and when I was doing paperwork to buy the car someone actually showed up asking for it!
Base F30s are a dime a dozen and go for ~10k less than M pkg. The manual is getting rarer, dealers know it. You will pay premium for a 6MT with M pkg and CPO
