Not sure I understand what you mean, but is your iphone case also a wallet case?

The mount is magnetic. You put the thin metal inside of your case and that is what holds the phone on the mount. If you do have a wallet case, then this may not be for you. Otherwise, it's great. Check the link which has pics and a video on how it works.

Bummer. The radar detector display and control are both exactly two inches wide. I want to recess mount them, so there wouldn't be any room.

Thanks for checking.

I think I could run a charge cable into the bottom of the cupholder and into this dock. The phone would be mounted a little lower than is ideal, but at least it wouldn't be blocking other controls.

Well, I got this thing the other day...it doesn't work very well, at least for my iPhone 6S Plus. The phone is almost too tall to rest comfortably in the dock, and the charging cord won't stay put. I put the cord in through the little lighting-port sized hole, but when I push the phone down onto it, it recesses into the cupholder. Useless. I guess I could try hot gluing the cord in place or something but I think I'm just going to do the Kuda solution.

Yes, it does block some of the controls but I rarely use them anyways - I only care about the climate controls which are usually set n forget. To each their own I guess

Basically, pull back the trim a bit, insert the mount, bend this metal plate attached to the mount to lock it in, and push the trim back into place.
Hi, can you please explain in more detail? I feel if I try this installation I may damage something. Were there any tools involved? What do they mean by "bend the metal". Bend it where? how?. Perhaps someone can post a video of the Kuda installation? Cheers.

Honestly, I don't remember the specifics, but it wasn't that hard and I didn't break anything and I'm a pretty clumsy guy who is only mediocre at DYI stuff.

I just discovered this Bestrix low profile vent mount. 2 air vent clips make it very stable but it's low profile and easy to install and remove. I have it in 3 cars.

Although I don?t like the idea of blocking vents, this would be a good when I?m in a rental car. The one I currently use is getting loose and the stability of two vent clips is a plus! Does it rotate for horizontal?

I like it but you can't rotate to landscape mode.

I bought a CD phone mount and instead of using the magnet phone holder, I swapped it out with a fast wireless car charger. So I basically have a wireless charger/mount for my iPhone X using the CD slot. I refuse to sacrifice a vent

Do you have a link to it?

I have a Koomus one like the guy on the first page said. It's been working well for about 3-4 years in various vehicles.

Assuming that it has a rotating ball type design that can be unscrewed, you can purchase any car wireless charger with a design that you like. I chose this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077N2ZH81/

Then I got a short 10 inch micro USB cable to run from that straight into my charger port. Looks pretty clean but the wireless charger is a bit on the bulkier side. I can take a pic later.

This is the best mount Ive ever used.

You can find a generic version for $5 at BigLots.

Originally bought this KENU brand and paid about $35 for it then found the iHome brand one at BigLots for $5. Works the exact same.
