New car day tomorrow pick up a M340i and move on my 340i MPPSK. Conflicting feelings as I’m going to miss the MPPSK but the numbers to change was too good to say no. New car has all the M Performance kit but no sunroof 😩 and cannot match the sound of the MPPSK but after 5 years it’s time for a change. Now time to find how to tell the mrs wish me luck chaps.

Good luck, with telling the Mrs, and congrats on the new car! Will be a nice step up and the lack of noise will be a good thing, its so last year having a loud exhaust noise (well to be honest, having any exhaust noise )

I have been thinking about this lately.
Back in the '80s and '90s there were 'noise limits' for car exhausts. I now live on a main road out of town and every other car (and more so m/bikes) seems to break those noise limits. What with valved exhausts and 'non-resonated' being sold everywhere. Not seen anyone batting an eyelid for years TBH, especially the Police.

I am guessing the limits haven't changed in law, just maybe the apathy?

Picked it up and what a difference to the f30 better handling, newer tech, etc. All in all a much better car shame about the noise but you can’t everything in life. If anyone is looking for a well loved 340i MPPSK my old one is already on the AUC site.

Yes. The phrase was very specific..... in fact heard it in both the m5 and the RS4. The first one was a pain in the arris about everything, the second waved me on my way quickly. Same force, same road, roughly same time. Not had it in the ipace yet - but I never got a speeding ticket in the noisy cars and i have in the jag, but cameras don't have ears....

Nice looking car you will enjoy it. I've just gone from F31 340i to a G31 540i and although a lot quieter, much nicer place to be, for all the reasons you made.

See you bought from my local bunch at Listers, I found them good when looking especially Tony he was really, helpful, hope you got a good service & deal.

Used to happen to me in the 80's with the likes of twin webbers and 4 branch manifolds with more noise than go, but not since (famous last words!)

Your Grey/Black 340 really was a special one and that colour was so individual, don’t think I have ever seen another.


Also hope to make the step up to a g series soon.

6000 rpm plus in an M5 or RS4 with respective performance exhausts is apparently quite loud and asking to get stopped at night

Fortunately I was in a very low gear and not speeding officer (I was but they were in a layby and stopped me, didn't follow me!)

Agree didn’t see another one in the 5 years I owned the car, it’s a Porsche colour apparently 🤷🏾‍♂️. Now back to black and trying to keep it clean and swirl free which is always a challenge

It is an interesting colour. The closest regular BMW colour is probably Dravit Grey, which I had on my previous 8

Great choice with the M340i (i have the touring version so i am a little biased of course). Looks great on the M795 wheels too.

Pretty sure i recognise that car park, if it's where i am thinking i always park in that same area too.
