F34 Trunk Mod for Spare?

Has anyone replaced/modified the trunk lift-up floor of the F34 GT to accommodate a spare? Something like cutting out a central circular area / covering it over?

I would like to get rid of my OEM Pirelli Cinturato P7 RFTs and upgrade to a set of something more high-performance (non-RF) but wouldn't think of doing that without a spare where I live.

Just throwing the spare in the trunk or on the back seat isn't an option, and I think mounting the tire on the back (like on a Jeep) would probably ruin the BMW aesthetic

It won't fit, not even with a compact spare. Tossing it into the cargo area is the only viable option. I don't bother carrying mine around town, but when I head out of town I put my compact spare into the cargo area.

I keep a tire repair kit and small pump under the rear cover. If it's something small, I could fix it but anything major and the car is just getting towed. Not ideal but that's my back up plan

I do that as well, but the last thing I want to deal with 50 miles or more from home is getting a flatbed and finding a tire shop, especially as the only time I'm more than 50 miles from home is going to a show in Boston, New York or Montreal.

Where did you get a your compact spare? They seem to be available from a few places online but I was curious if there was an nuance to them that needed to be considered.

I got mine from a BMW specialty shop that's no longer in business. There's nothing special about them, save the usual BMW price penalty.

Please share the specs for the spare (rim & tire) you have.
I carry a spare (donut w/ steel rim) on out of town trips as well, but mine needs a 10 mm spacer in order to fit over Blue calipers at the front. My 17" spare is from E60. Good enough for temp use.

E60 OEM spare:
Rim 4X17 ET:18
Tire 135/80R17

F34 OEM spare:
Rim 4X17 ET:5
Tire 135/90R17

Thanks!

I don't have MSport brakes so my specs wouldn't matter to you.

cost of spare tire/rim for 340i w/18" wheels is about $400 delivered, w/o scissor jack or cover. I bought these instead:
TireRack: Yokohama Y870C for $134.56 (plus shipping)
Size: T145/70D18

FCP Euro: bmw 18" compact spare wheel - genuine bmw
36116768861 $100.49 (plus shipping)
bolt pattern: 5x120

install, including valve stem, depending on tire shop: $20 - $25
Rolling diameter is 26.0 inches

Does your car have M Sport brakes (Blue calipers)?
